Condenser is in need of being cleaned badly or your fan motor to cool the condenser is not operating. Compressor is overheating. Removed the panel in back of the refrigerator and clean the condenser so air can freely pass over it for heat removal. Allow compressor to cool off before restarting it.

Whirlpool refrigerator model ED5FTGHKQ02

the closest model i could find was ED5FTGXKQ02 instead of ED5FTGHKQ02,could you check that and also what's not cooling both sides or just the fridge section, all it does is the evap coil gets cold in the freezer and the evap fan blows cold air from the freezer over to the fridge section, couple of the ings to check is open the freezer door, you should hear the fan blowing,if not you have a bad evap fan motor,if it is blowing from the bottom up remove the second bin or draw full of food and touch the back inside wall of freezer,if there's frost or like ice on the back panel you have a defrost problem,if everything is melting in both sides the compressor isn't running, could be a bad timer located in the fresh food section up front where the controls are or a bad start device located on the side of compressor, you might hear a clicking sound every couple of minutes.let me know what you find and check the model number, open the fridge door, look up on the right side wall near the ceiling or down near the bottom hinge on the door.thanks

No air blowing into fridge, although we can hear blower. Freezer is working

if you can hear the fan still blowing but no cold air coming up to fridge section a common problem with bottom mount freezers is the door gets left open and the air ducts freeze up and the air can't blow up to the top.turn the control off in the freezer.remove the top shelf and the door, check to see if there are any screws one on each side of the slide arms,if there are remove them and lift the door up and out, with a hair dryer melt out the ice by blowing the hot air up each side of the back wall, also if the back inside wall of the freezer is covered with ice or like snow then you have a defrost problem but if there's no ice on back wall do what i said and blow the air up the sides of the back wall through the vents until no more water is seen dripping through the vent holes, then turn the freezer back on and check to see if you feel cold air blowing in through the vents in the fridge section,if you feel cold air then you're all set,if not keep blowing the hot air up the sides until it's melted out.let me know what you find, you'll know if the door was left open, ice will be on the ceiling near the light switch and sometimes on the top of the freezer door

Freezer malfunction

Drain hole is clogged behind the panel that covers the coils. I found a peice of solder blocking mine. Water was freezing on the bottom of the freezer and leaking out to the floor.

Stripe between fridge and freezer is extremely hot to touch

It is 100% the condensor fan motor on the back. Its not two hard to replace. Take the screws off the back panel and remove. Then locate fan. Disconnect the wires going to the motor and then unscrew the scews that mount the motor. Take the part to parts store of look it up online. Then simply remount motor and plug wires in.

Panel between fridge and freezer very hot and no sound at all

Hi: Its just a coincidence you noticed it then. It is usually hot. It's the reverse side of the refrigerant (the hot side.) If you lived in a humid area the fridge would sweat. Water would run down between the doors. I live in a dry climate so no worries. Older fridges used an electric heating element to keep them dry. They also had an energy saver switch to turn it off. As Whirlpool uses the hot side of the refrigerant they don't use additional power to run the heater. Actually the heater is called a mullion heater. Nothing is wrong with your fridge. I'll look over my shoulder for angry retailers. Hope this helps, Jeff.

Panel between fridge and freezer very hot and no sound at all

Dont know about the noise prob. but I can help with the over heating cabinet. Your condensing coil is dirty and needs cleaned. it is located under your refrigerator or behind the back panel. You should use a brush and vac. it out. Air must travel through the tubing freely in order to cool properly. It should be easy to find following the tubes coming out of your compressor.
