Ice Maker on/off switch has blinking red light, will not produce ice. Manual no help
When you open the freezer door the light should be blinking. When you hold the flipper door shut (on the left hand side) without blocking the beam, the light should stay on solid. If all of this happens then the optics are o.k. If optics are ok then you most likely have a broken motor module on the icemaker and should replace the icemaker thermostat along with it. A bad icemaker thermostat will lead to the module breaking. If you not sure how to replace these parts then I would just replace the whole icemaker. That would be easiest and usually not much more expensive.

I have a whirlpool imperial series refrigerator,
if the fault is in the contactor, then u will not hear a click from the solenoid. if u hear the click and no water it might be the solenoid. solenoids fail very often, they corrode or clock inside.
if u press the handle and do not hear a click and no water then u have to check the electrical circuit for continuity at the solenoid.
my guess: the solenoid

Hoe to remove drip tray
There must be locks inside. First of all, check the locks if there are, then shake up or down slowly and steadily. Then while shaking, pull it towards yourself. Thats all.

Whirlpool pin retainer is broken on ice dispenser
this is easy. there is a small area beside where the piece broke off. bend a small peice of metal coat hanger at a 90 degree angle, (this is so you can make your new hole on the correct line) heat the end with a lighter, burn a smallhole thru this area beside where the previous hole existed. now throw away the old pin that you were using and use a piece of coat hanger cut to the right length. on one end bend about one half inch to 90 degree angle, feed thru new hole and thru your spring and flap and thru to opposite side hole and lastly make small bend to keep wire from sliding out. ta da, fixed. problem solved for about two cents. i have successfully repaired many of these doors.

How to fix the motor module on the icemaker
I suggest that you DO NOT try to "fix" the motor module on an ice maker, it is simpler and in the long-run - much cheaper to replace the entire ice maker.
Be aware that many new refrigerators use the ice maker timing of the ice maker to control the defrost cycle of the refrigerator and messing up with the I/M internal parts may cause you some consequential damage.

I acquired a 1993 Whirlpool side-by-side
IF IT HAS AN AUTOMATIC ICE MAKER, IT DOES HAVE A FILTER. IT ALSO FILTERS THE DRINKING WATER. IT WILL BE LOCATED IN THE REFRIGERATOR CABINET, USUALLY AT THE TOP.
