The canon sounds like its turning on. green light comes on and red flash.
Nothing shows up on the lcd so - no pictures

Got it. I had the same issue with my SD950. If you may have dropped it, this happens quite a bit. Good thing is that the green light goes one still.
Go into the settings mode and reset the camera to its default configuration. This usually works. If you cannot even get to this, the LCD may be damaged beyond a simple reset/software fix and it might need to be repaired.

Mine turns on and then beeps and says "lens error, restart camera" Lens does not expand. Camera shuts off.
I tried changing the battery. Restarting. Attaching it to the computer but the computer is not reading it as an attached device in iPhoto.
