The refrigerator has side by side doors on top with a bottom drawer freezer. We were able to remove the filter once but had gotten the wrong filter so put the old one back in. Now it doesn't come out.

take all the bottom shelves and baskets out of the freezer. look at the back wall of the freezer. youll see a block of ice in a metal pan looking part at the bottom of the rear panel. there is a hole in the bottom of that pan. thats the defrost drain. its clogged. use a hair dryer to get all the ice out then use hot water to flush out the drain hole.

Remove all the food from the freezer and then the drawer from the cabinet. Now using a silicone based lubricant, lube the tracks up real well. Be sure to clean the tracks first if gunked up. Make sure nothing small fell out of the basket over time and is laying on the floor in the rear of the freezer section. Once done, you should be fine.

I had the same problem. I called tech support and they were no help. Being a handy man I dove into the problem myself and discovered the problem. If you want this solution, I have pictures and information. Simply email [email protected] and I will send you this infomation.

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use
and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater
comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost
drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the
freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.
Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end
because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the
evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it.
Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing
it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent
refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the
lower back of the freezer.
you have a blocked drain, try this, pull out the machine, unplug it,remove the bottom panel, lie on the floor and with a light look up or feel around, there's a nipple that's there that the water drains out of or drips through,i've been removing the nipple, running it under water to clean it,but it has to go back,if you don't put it back you'll have problems, this keeps the warm air from getting into the freezer, before you put it back on get a hair dryer and melt out the ice, just heat up the back freezer wall and then pour hot water down through the back wall,if the water drains out you don't have to take the freezer draws and racks out, they changed them all around and i can't explain how to do it and if you pull it out and don't line the two wheels up correctly the door won't close right,i mark them with a marker before i pull them out,it sucks to do and is very ridiculous, you need a manual just to remove these parts,if this doesn't have a nipple on it and has a drain hose there you can try to clean it out from that end,you can get a piece of 1/4 in water line like they use for the water lines on the fridge, buy a piece and snake it up through the drain hose and then blow through it then flush water through the back inside freezer wall, slime builds up in the drain hose on all machines so once it's freed up it will drain, you might think that if you go from the back you'll push it up into the freezer and it will happen again it won't,once you hit it and free it up it will break apart and every time the machine defrosts the water will wash any parts that is still in there out.i'll try to see if i can find any videos on line for you to show how to remove the shelves and racks and then to line them up again but try going from the back first.good luck.
Hello friend, thank you for your post!
I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator is not producing enough ice. I would advise to check and make sure that your water filter has a secure connection, if need be uninstall and reinstall the water filter to assure connection. Your filter should be changed every six months, if it is has not been changed recently I would recommend exchanging it.
If you continue to receive low ice production it could be an issue with your water line or water valve, I would seek assistance from a professional for proper diagnose and repair of your appliance. I hope this helps. -Matt
Hello - Typically when water is coming out from under the refrigerator there could possibly be a loose connection from the house water supply line to the water valve or a cracked drain pan (located underneath the refrigerator). Try confirming that the valve is tightened. If the connection is still leaking, turn off the water supply valve and take the connection apart. You can try using Teflon tape when retightening the connection to ensure a good seal. There could also be a loose water connection to the door. This connection is located on the bottom left of the freezer door.
