Hi daneilb101 - Typically error code SY EF indicates that the refrigerator has detected an evaporator fan circuit failure. Contact a professional to move forward accurately. What does a CE error

My fridge was having the same problem with CE being displayed, light and touch selector not working. With the assistance of one of my sons, we tilted the fridge back slightly and removed the control circuit board. Two of the three 470 u F capacitors were toast. My son drilled out the plastic brads holding the circuit board in the pan, then removed all three of the 470 u F capacitors. He soldered 3 new capacitors in place (0.59 cents each) and used 4 small screws/nuts to secure the board in place. After looking at the capacitors, he said a power surge had caused the damage. We went right out and bought a surge protector for the fridge. My fridge works perfectly now. While protecting tvs and computer from surges, I had never even thought of using a surge protector for the more costly fridge! Hope this helps someone else avoid an shamefully expensive parts replacement.

Refrigerator door will open slightly

Please check that the door is not twisted, have you got children that could have possibly been hanging on the door, most fridges have a plate that is adjustable that is on the bottom R/hand or L/hand door, but it will mean to pull the fridge clear of any work surfaces disconnect the power supply first tilt it back as far as possible but do not lay it down as this my cause any particles in the system to get into the small pipe work and block rendering useless, slacken off the screws or bolts just enough for the door to move locate the door equally around the fridge and retighten bolts, if this does not cure the problem then stand fridge up right and put a small block of wood or something similar in between the door and frame in the area that does touch the fridge then gently push the door in not to much just a bit at a time until the magnetic strip locks against the fridge to give a good seal. Good luck

Water dispenser leaks when getting water . This is Frigidare refrigerator , is it the valve on back ?

Hello Marie Baxter: If you suspect the water dispenser is leaking, make sure it is the hoses coming from the filter and not the actual filter.

Sometimes the clamps on the hoses for fridge water filters can come loose or the hose itself could crack; in which case the hose would need replacing (or tightening the clamp), and not the filter.

If you clearly find the filter is leaking, the best thing to do is make sure it is installed properly.

If it is securely in place, then you may just have a defective filter and changing it will solve the leaking.

You will need to remove the filter, which is typically located in the back of the refrigerator and inspect it to see what condition it is in.

•For instance, if it is black or looks dirty, you probably will want to replace it.

•Moreover, when there is a leak or a clog, you will notice a dramatic decrease in the output of the water dispenser tab, which is another sign there may be a leak in the water filter. If you know the water filter in your refrigerator is leaking, then you can take the water filter out and see if it has anything loose on it, but typically if it is leaking, it probably is best to replace the water filters for refrigerators.

•This is especially true if you use the filtered water from the refrigerator as your main home water filter systems.

•Moreover, if it has been awhile since you changed the filter; it can become clogged over time, which can cause it to leak.

When you are faced with having a leaking filter refrigerator water unit, it helps to think through the pros and cons of fixing the leak vs. replacing the refrigerator water filter.

Water dispenser not working

You need to replace both the solenoid for the ice maker and the water dispenser. Easy job, less than 1 hour. Parts should be under $50. Facing the back of the refrigerator the solenoids are located on the lower right behind the hardboard cover where the water comes. The he replacement parts are a little different than what you have, and much easier to work with. Just cut the water lines close to the old solenoids (you don't have much extra to play with). You'll just push the water lines into the new solenoid valves. Make sure the water is off and the refrigerator is unplugged.

Water dispenser line frozen, items freezing in fridge side. Freezer constantly running/blowing

Your freezer is what actually cools the refrigerator. The cool air enters from that spot on the top left of the freezer. Make sure that isn't blocked. It's sounds like the thermostat that controls the air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator isn't working or the air flow control device is stuck. Either way if you can, unload and unplug the unit. This will do to things. First it will reset the circuits that control everything and secondly if the air flow control is frozen thawing out the refrigerator and freezer may free it up.
