Canon pixma mx 300 won't send or receive fax
Dear friend,
it's very important to connect your MX 300 with the telephone line the right way! Please read once more the part "Preparing the machine for fax" in the chapter "Faxing" of the MX 300 User's Guide and mind the hint "Important: Do not connect the machine and external devices in parallel to the same telephone line using a splitter (A). The machine may not operate properly."

Error 1686
Printer fails to detect the ink levels. Either replace the ink cartridges (as you may have got a defective cartridge) or deactivate the level detection on the printer. Hope that helps!
REQ. SERVICE SOON
1. hold RESUME then press & hold POWER
2. release RESUME, then press it twice, the light should go amber then green again.
3. you're now in service mode (you can release POWER now)
for reset waste tank reset is 4 presses of the RESUME button. To confirm, press POWER once

I have an MX300 printer.
Hey!!
Its telling you that the colour cartridge is empty or remaining ink unknown,the way to stop it is to press and hold down the stop button for about 7 seconds!!That disables the remaining ink volume detection.
