Pstopdffilter/pstocupsraster failed with err number -31000

This is a suggestion which may help:- Try changing the print cartridge/s that will be used if the print job goes ahead. I have had the same msg come up just after changing a low cartridge with a cheaper replacement cartridge which had leaked whilst still in its cling wrap(normally I wouldn't install a cartridge like this but I had no other alternative & it did work initially & even after the error msg came up I checked it for leaks & found none. As soon as I refill a propietry one or buy another I will be trying out my own suggestion. I would appreciate it if U can email me of any success U achieve & how U did to "[email protected]"

Brother hl5250dn printer making noise during paper

check the rear end of the paper tray. There is an adjustable bar for paper size that is probably not locking into place. If this moves accidently when refilling the paper tray. it may cause a rather unnerving noise. You need to adjust this bar to fit snugly with the short edge of the paper stack.

To resolve blank prints, follow the steps below:

Brother strongly recommends that customers use only genuine Brother drum units and/or toner cartridges. Each Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations. Each individual component is designed to work with the other to ensure quality and reliability. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that is caused by the use of third party drum units, toner cartridges or toner.

To clean the laser glass follow the instructions listed below:

1. Turn off the Brother machine using the power switch located on the right side of the machine.

2. Unplug the power cord from the AC power outlet.

3. Open the front cover and remove the drum and toner assembly.

NOTE: We recommend you place the toner and drum assembly on a piece of paper in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.

4. The laser glass is located inside the machine where the drum was installed. It is a piece of glass, about 1/2 inch wide and approximately 8 inches long, located on the ceiling of the inside of the printer. Gently wipe the glass with a clean soft DRY cloth. DO NOT use isopropyl alcohol or any liquid to clean the glass.

5. Place the drum and toner assembly back into the Brother machine.

6. Close the front cover making sure it latches on both sides.

7. Plug the machine back into the power outlet and turn on the power switch.

8. Test the machine by printing the Print Settings page. Press the GO button three times. The printer will print the current printer settings.

9. If the problem continues, perform a factory reset.

a. Turn off the printer.

d. Release the GO button when the Status light turns off. The Toner, Drum, and Paper lights will be on.

e. After releasing the GO button, all the lights will turn off.

f. Press the GO button eight times.

g. The printer settings will be reset to factory default. The printer will then initialize and return to Ready status.

10. If the problem continues and your machine is within warranty, you can locate a Brother Authorized Service Center (ASC) in your area by clicking on the link below:
