Brother HL5250DN toner light will not go off
Is the printer still asking for a new toner..?
If it is the there is a gear that can be reset on the toner cartridge to tell the machine its a new toner cartridge. This is normally done by an engineer, but is quite easy to do if you know how. And I do :0
My brother hl 5250dn says its offline. How do I get it back online? I am using windows 8.1
Since you mention internet issues that your carrier fixed, I'd look at your local router. The router provides IP numbers to all the devices in your home network and if its been replaced or even reset, its likely offering up a new (and different) ip number to your printer. Try creating another printer object on your windows computer and see if windows can find the Brother connection that way. Windows won't scan for a changed IP number on a printer its already configured. If that fails, you can use the router to show you all the devices it sees on your home network and check to be certain the printer is present.

Paper tray noise.
I actually fixed mine. I found this post and it did not fix the problem. Here is what happened. I was printing several documents and the paper ran out. I pulled the tray out at a slight angle this caused the try to catch on the paper level sensor tab and pulled it out of place. Since this was out of place when the printer lifted the paper, the printer did not know that the paper was up and would keep trying to lift it, hence the slipping of the cogs/gears and the load clicking noise. This sensor is a black tab on the printer by the rollers that pick up the paper. So to fix it this is what I did:
1. Unplug it!
2. Unplug it, seriously.
3. Unscrew the silver bar on the bottom.
4. Take the rollers out, the blue piece holding them in is flexible.
5. Note the two black pieces that move back and forth. Observe that one of them has a spring and this one slides between one of the sensors on a breadboard. Remove the spring and don't lose it!
6. The other tab is the one that caused my problem. If you have the same problem it won't go all the way back and slide between the other sensor. So to correct this you need to lift or push it back into place so that it will move between the sensor. If you do this correctly it won't move that much, just enough to do its job.
7. Put the spring back on.
8. Put the rollers back, there is a tab of the white part that slides in like a key hole.
9. Reattach the silver bar. Keep in mind the grounding wire, make sure it is on top, visible to you when screwing it in.
10. Insert tray and print.
Happy printing!
WordPerfect only prints to manual tray on Brother HL-5370DW
Close WordPerfect. Clear all printers. Go to Registry Edit and browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Corel\14 or whatever version you are using and right click on the "PrintEngine" folder and rename it, e.g, "PrintEingineOld." I discovered this shortly after I posted my inquiry.
