The black marks are most likely from a worn image drum. I would check the image drum (the unit that the toner fits into) for wear marks. If worn i would suggest to replace it. The Brother part is DR-250 and is available at most office supply stores.

if you have done a lot of enevelopes, most likely the pickup roller got paper fibers on the roller and does not have as much traction. try cleaning the roller with isopropal alcohol if that does not help, the roller will be probably need replacing.

Fist uninstall all the drivers ralated to the printer, then install it again.

1. Turn off the computer
2. power cycle the printer
3. Turn On the computer

1. Install the driver
2. Turn off the computer
3. start the printer
4. Turn on the computer

Take off the toner cartridge on a safe place waft the cartridge and get it into the printer

No, remanufactured cartridges are just as good, and better for the environment if you get them from a reputable dealer. I buy all my toner cartridges from Qtoner.com and am very happy with them after trying a lot of other knock off non quality refurbished toner cartridges. You just have to find the right vendor.

With brothers, you have to manually tell the printer that you changed it. It tells you how in your owners manual. If you can't find it let me know and I can walk you through it to the best of my ability.

The problem coming because there is some paper jam in side the printer. Remove the toner cartridge and look inside the printer for any paper jam.

if cartridge and drum did not solved this problem, this meant that problem lies with mirror or tracking system and repair that bits is usually beyond home user.

firstly try to check and clean all rollers and traction system, work from tray catcher up, follow paper trail and check for stuck hair, bit of paper or any other debries, clean all rollers. then follow paper procedure below:

as this is easy, create a page of white and black about 10mm lines and then print full page on 120g watercolour paper (this is bit grainy paper which will work as "scrub" of the system), this will remove if any, debris from transfer drum in most cases.

if these solution do not work, if you game, remove back, mark all wires where they go, then remove motherboard panel, mark mirror position, clean it up and this will solve the greyness problem, or kill the printer totally...

some gears are not in proper position , pull out the paper tray and closed it strongly .
