Hello,
This could be caused by a number of things. The first thing I would do is make sure the ethernet cable going to the printer and going from the computers to the router are not running parallel to any power cables (A/C) for more then a foot. If you need to cross an A/C cable over a cat 5 cable make sure its crossed (90 degrees) from the other cable. A/C line interference can travel pretty easy thru cat5 and can cause data transfer errors, DHCP ip renewal errors, as well as slow the data rate down by 80%, etc. I have seen this issue and know it cause cause odd behaviour to devices that used to work fine, so check that first.
If your cat5 ethernet cables is not hindered by A/C cables then another thing could be the cat5 cable itself is damaged. If you have another cat5 cable try plugging it into the printer for test purposes and try to print a document.
If that still doesn't do anything I recommend trying a firmware upgrade to your printer. You can get the latest firmware tool here:
http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/ca/en/dlf/download_index.html?reg=us&c=ca&lang=en&prod=hl5250dn_all&type2=4&os=all&flang=all&dlid=
Just select your language under the heading for your operating system. Run the tool and select your printer (don't recommend doing this on wireless so make sure you do it with a PC connected via cat5 to your router).
If that still did not do anything then I suggest a setting is misconfigured on the PC's printer drivers or you may have something wrong with the printer beyond this provided solution.
Tell me how you far and I will see what else I can suggest to bring you to a resolution.
Regards,
Chris
