Lenovo IBM... | Answered on Sep 14, 2018

the WSOD, (white screens of deathh(sic))
a very rare thing, and the 2 beeps.
step one, dump out the huge battery and test with only AC power pack. battery this old are bad and short, remove it first. first things first rules.

rule 2, carbon14 dated by me at 2009 made, so the RTC coin cell battery
can be bad (pink bunny spec is 7 year design life)

rule 3 , If BIOS screen are ok, my guess no, WSOD'd.
2 beeps, the silly manual on it does not cover beeps.
beep codes very by model and year and are poorly documented.

i hate lenovo's I buy dell/hp we have real service manuals on our PC USA, by American and win.

or at least ASUS of Twain. (nationalists are cool)
Lenovo's chapter on troubleshooting is useless. for sure WSOD or any hard failures are not covered at all,....
The Infamous SOLDER BALL :ERA:

the WSOD might be the BGA, GPU chip solder failures.
back then they made millions of PC that must pass USA no solder lead rules, no Pb lead. and failed by the millions, 2008/200.

white-screens or worse lines on screen or dead.
twist the screen bezel gently does the screen change.
now do that to the base(GPU side) and does it change. if yes. think bad GPU chip BGA.
BGA = chip with ball grid array pins.
Do more tests?
see left side, see 15pin Dshell VGA port? connect this to a real monitor, VGA get better results? there is hot key for turning on both. page 12 in your manuals states and I quote:

"Press Fn+F3 to shift to other connected display devices."

just key doing that , every 10seconds to see if VGA wakes up.
on many PCs this Press, toggles as 3 or 4 ways below:
internal screen
VGA ext.

that is all I have, more tests are possible and more complex.

one more overheating, clean the vents of lint.
its got a decade of lint inside. so....

1: big battery out (leave out until PC works again)
2: new RTC coin cell, the old one is bad or near.
3: clean the lent out.
4: reseat ram sticks.
5: test with external monitor , VGA port.
6: do the long reset trick>?
a: big battery out,, ac pack unplugged. push power for 30
seconds, release.
b: put only AC power pack fully connected now, and test PC. beep still?

7: last test is complex, we unload the motherboard.
of all modules (any can short, is why)
and test the PC stripped down to near nothing.
see photo of HP stripped to zero.

8: remove all ram sticks and test them all 1 by 1, in bamk 0 as the book on your pc shows for RAM population.
warning my PC has 2 top and 2 bottom raM BANKS.
on mine the keyboard off reveals bank 2(RTM is wise)

9:Ask real lenovo forum what 2 beeps mean?
fixya is not Lenovo.

The key to diagnosis, is know things short out, not just open connections like simple ram sticks can do.
(dirt caused on sticks.)

Battery could be defective.

Lenovo Tablets &... | Answered on Sep 10, 2018

short answer because it needs it.
long answer
because the HDD needs 1 to 2 amperes of current to start the motor and you PC will not do that.
they do sell Y cables for USB. for 2 usb in to PC
and 1 usb end to HDD external case.
for more power.
but the external ac/dc 2amp pack is best.
it is best for using the external, drive on any PC
for the reasons stated (proof) below.
see this chart?, see why the top 4 will not work
if hdd draws 1amp startup (WD5000LPCX)as seen here

1.0amps startup current if above is your drive. spec.
there you go , a short and long answer, can go longer, easy. ask.

Lenovo 110S-11IBR - 11"?
I can't guess your real MODEL number. why?

100-14IBD, 100-15IBD, 100S-14IBR, 110-17IKB, 110-14IBR, 110-15IBR, 110-15ACL, 110 Touch-15ACL, 110-17ACL

guess what the number tells me what is INSIDE day 1.

Bios Passwork or windows login password????
if windows Pw lost is it local PW or windows Live.com login
the latter is childs play to reset, why not ask for help first?

what factory reset, you failed to say?

The BIOS key? recovery method
Lenovo install media
or microsoft install media. (there are 3 choices )
So let me guess you went to the MS freedown load page
then run IE11, and downloaded the ISO, w10-32 5gigabytes big
and it wont fit in the current hdd.
your PC came with a tiny 32GB SSD, new.
and is way to small, in fact windows 10 updates will fail too.
w10 does not run on this PC, with that SSD. (tiny, dinky small)
upgrade the to 120GB+ SSD...

sure, the HDD if full.
what else. get a bigger bucket? HDD?>

did you see Shift Restart , key press here.
this reloads the onboard recovery process.

I guess the PC will not boot>?
you said PW but how can you do a factory reset?
with PW blocking you, unstated? how.
my guess is the BIOS HOT KEY FOR RECOVERY method.
then it finds the HDD FULL.
sure it does, how can it not.
btw w10 is bloatware (it gets bigger and bigger)
note that the April 2018 new 10 release ISO is bigger.
you really really should by a SSD 128GB. at least.
this is well known problem at lenovo this pc.

here is what you did i bet, quoting your manual
and fails now because MS made it too big.
or you have too much data, or too many apps installed.
32GB is NO GOOD for any PC made, even this.
but lenovo was ,well drunk or asleep.

Restore of factory default
The Lenovo ideapad 100S-11IBR computers come with pre-installed Recovery
system. In order to save application files and the initial backedup files of the
system, the hard disk in a Lenovo computer includes a hidden partition when
it is shipped. If you need to restore the system to the point of your first boot
up, just enter the
Recovery System
(Push-button reset).
For details of the
Recovery system, see
the User Guide for Recovery system

it will be if it overheats.
so clean it.

Lenovo Computers... | Answered on Aug 27, 2018

no problem stated, so the helper can be on same page.
I will pretend you said want to change my mouse settings
NO OS stated,
i will now guess that too.
seems its windows 10, RTM , i did.
so on my w10
hold the left windows key +R
type control panel (just like that in english)
bingo control panel.
there are 7 ways to get to CP (facts)
way 2,
same windows key + I (eye)
this goes to windows 10 settings panel.
w10 has to CP, one is called control panel and other is settings
MS is moving away from CP to Settings,
as time goes on, CP will die. so they say,,,, at MS.com

Lenovo Computers... | Answered on Aug 27, 2018

no boot. SL500 notebook. 10 years old now? 2008 made.

no failed screen photo posted. making answers near impossible to guess what is there on screen.
PC's boot in serial sequence.
Power on
BIOS posts. (power on self test and possible errors)

then asks for BIOS PASSword (bad thing to have and forget) never turn this feature on.
then if Bitlocker was turned on you must get this password next, if lost doom it is for HDD.'

next the HDD boots the OS. (or fails with errors)
what OS is this, windows (what) or Linux (hat) or freedos, or well lots more OS.
let my guess its windows. so the next step is
windows password, is this where you get stuck.

this messages (means recovery mode) in english.
To interrupt normal startup, press the
blue ThinkVantage button"

it is the BIOS hot key for recovery.
if the bios password is not set then BIOS works.

My guess is your HDD is bad, and cant boot.
you read the manual, (did you) and see the recovery chapter. and then attempt the recovery
and that works , good, but if not that means the HDD is bad, or damaged.'
page 41 covers how to use factory recover disk

If you need help , next time tell the helper
what OS came new with PC and was it upgraded.
to say w10. WE CAN NEVER GUESS what
OS is there (operating system)

Lenovo ThinkPad... | Answered on Aug 23, 2018

hello mr, Matt the hyjacker?
why not ask using all your facts, and not OPs
my wild guess is the OP inserted to the docking station
and bent pins, and now will not work.
the word unlock here is poor choice of words
as many docking stations have option key mech. KEY lock.
so if NOT a key lock !
then it is just mechanically jammed
why not get someone to fix it
or try to unjam it your self , I am sure the OP did 8 long years ago.
or sold it or scrapped it.

invert the whole thing, LT and dock.
upside down, now press dock firmly the LT bottom
near the Connector end and at same time...
then unlatch the dock using the dock latch release now.
this relieves pressure (gravity) and can aid in the cure.

Lenovo ThinkPad... | Answered on Aug 17, 2018

same what as whos?
the PC has the early forum of TPM lock. T series Stinkpads.
the BIOS lock out chip.
it can not be simply reset, (by design)
the BIOS user pass word yes, if SVP adimin pass word to BIOS PW is known. The manual for this PC states this.

The trick of killing all 3 forms of power works on USER BIOS pw ONLY.

the 3 ways are here (besides new mobo) SVP reset.
1: using eeprom programmer connect 2 wire and erase it.
2: replace the chip , sold on ebay by man(solder skills max)
3: at wits end,? just before the mobo hits the trash bin

one can do this. (personally id never do it but ...)'

good luck

Lenovo R61 T7300... | Answered on Aug 14, 2018

older post not too old. no the speaker are not blow out, not 2 at same time. how can that happen? (sure play rap )
all things can be fixed, but firsts is drivers.
a THINK PAD it is. 8 years old 2010 made it was. (can be)
the hardware is useless lacking the matching OS driver.
let me now guess, windows 7?
you posted lacking the most key factor possible the OS>
we can't guess that, and must be stated.
and if upgraded to w10, is it? or w8.? or downgraded (horror)

wow cost new 7 times what my gaming desktop cost. wow.
$2000 (wow, just wow)
cp + system = what OS is there. just 2 clicks.
its at least 7 years old, see posts that old.

at lenovo forum all links to manuals are now dead (HP disease)
btw dell has x10 better support , for doc's and no endless dead links.

manualsdir.com has this 410 manual squirreled away.

ok googling for 5 seconds i found official drivers at real lenovo
here is the link
i pick t410s, then pick OS.

Conexant Audio Driver for Windows Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) and XP
Conexant Audio Software for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad T400s
as you can see no w8 or 10 support on Audio
clear as day
did you upgrade to 10?
if you run w8 or w10
you download, w7
then right click the EXE
and pick compatiblity mode, W7
this is the only way to make this work on w8 or 10
and is pure luck if it does,

before upgrading any PC, learn to go to the PC makers site
then see if the OS of your dreams is supported,
in most cases 10 year or older PCs w10 is noT SUPPORTED.
As microsoft too, clearly states. 2007 is gray line

Lenovo Computers... | Answered on Aug 14, 2018

Idea Pad?
Is this Pad, internet connected? so PnP can do its job?
20 questions (no os stated so....)
did it work before? ('other shoe drops' effect) ever, if yes when/?
is the cam port , covered in black tape like mine is?
no OS stated, why post lacking such a key fact
no application stated you are using to us cam, SKYPE?
join the club here, 99% here never say it, and the answers
are all wrong, or goes sideways, ever wonder why.? this.
1: did you buy this PC brand new or used. if new, what windows?
2: did you change the OS, upgrade to w10 during the free upgrade?
3: in DM, device manager, are USB ports dead? if yes learn that many cameras use port 0 USB just dedicated to the cam.
if the usb driver is missing,, then bingo. dead cam.
That is not a hard fast rule, only the engineer that made it knows.
but i can in fact dismantle to driver to learn it. but refuse here.
if the camera software from Lenovo is missing same.

now lets go to lenovo, and guess what they will ask OS>
after all the OS and hardware must match. (rare exceptions)
is see with 10sec google searches the webcam is bundled with the card reader module. and driver.
i also is in 1second it has 3 camera's used.
Camera Driver (Bison, Chicony, Liteon) 1,2,3,
so like all PCs made, the full laptop service tag is the only why
to learn what came with PC new. as an option.
or run (load) all 3 drivers, pray one works.

lets backup
power on the PC, be web connected, now, Ethernet cable Cat5 cable to router is best (hard wires is always best)
then see if the PC will plug and Play (PnP) the driver for the cam.
this pc is 6 years old today.

now real support at Lenovo off there Download site REAL

again note the 3 cameras used.
learn now, that other driver may be a predicate to making it work
USB tops my list.

2 common ways for any device in any PC failing( not bad hardware)
upgrading from older windows to newer.
then not loading the missing drivers, all.
at above link.
in DM , are other lines in DM showing RED marks, yellow marks
or UNKNOWN marks,
if yes BINGO,

In Linux we have a thing called dependencies, that MS nor Lenovo ever show or tell,. making windows sometimes a pain to get all devices working.
Not only that but many devices inside may be Lenovo custom.
(unlike anything else on earth custom) see?

go there now, tell it (check box) your OS
and bingo load that. cam driver.
i see for w10-64 its unified, 3 drives on one load.
but no OS stated by you.

run box, click control panel
click system.
bingo OS is before your eyes.
if w7 "? are all 350 update loaded and present.
w7 is a pain loaded fresh, now. takes all day go finish the updates. so is it? and IE7 updated first??????
