Pc hdmi no sound

I have a Proscan 39" LED PLDED3992A. I hooked up my Acer laptop via a HDMI cable. I get a picture but no sound. I have tried all 3 inputs. The DVD and Roku work fine. I have swapped cables but no luck. I have hooked up the laptop to other TVs with no problem.

Some televisions require a seperate audio feed from the HDMI cable to hook up audio. if you have the cables for this i would try that first. normally ends up having to go thru an AV connection

SOURCE: TELEVISION - PS3 AND XBOX HDMI COMPATIBILITY

You have to use the scart connector for on screen menu settings. Go to the video option and enable HDMI and/or match resolution output to your set.
You did not mention the model of the TV so here is another scenario,
Just because the TV is 1 year old doesn't mean that it is a 1080p capable, you could have set the HDMI resolution settings to 1080p and you will not get any picture if your set cannot process the information.

PROSCAN PS27123 TV directions how to hook up dvd player

First, I strongly urge you to purchase a short HDMI cable IF BOTH units are equipped to utilize them. Run HDMI "out" from the player and hook the other end to HDMI "in" on the TV. That will avoid all this angst you are experiencing now since HDMI carries audio and video at a high resolution.

If you must use the RCA cables, make sure they are coming out of the"out" jacks on the player and going into the "in" jack on the TV. Now, I feel strongly your problem has to do with the "input" or "source" button on the remote. You MUST have it set to DVD player. Play with it. It's imperative to, with the remote, select the proper source - which in this case is DVD player, rather than, say, cable box, computer, etc. By the way, even if you use HDMI, you'll still have to do that, and you will also still have to select the correct input (sounds maybe like you have 3). Good luck!

I tried hooking up my laptop to my 37lh20 tv. I connected the avi to the pc input and an audio cable fro the headset jack on the tv. If I put the tv input on rgb pc I get the picture but no sound and if...

Unless you hook HDMI to HDMI, you won't carry sound across the HDMI cable. If you're using a VGA to HDMI converter, you'll get the picture but no sound.

I have a feeling the headset jack on the TV is an output rather than an input. Most TVs accept HDMI, RCA, or a digital audio input (either coaxial or optical). Unless you have a S/PDIF optical output from your laptop (and you obviously don't have an HDMI output), then your only other choice is likely to get a cable that splits a 1/8" headset type connector into two RCA plugs that you'll plug into an AUDIO IN input on your TV.

Xbox elite connected to TV thru HDMI works fine, but connected via bcs-fs500 receiver = no audio or video Cable tv through receiver works fine Have tried cable tv through receiver inputs HDMI 1 and 2...

Hook your Xbox to tv via HDMI, then hook TV to reciever through digital optical or composite cables. If you try to get your picture through receiver first, you may get picture and sound but, sound may be delayed and picture might not be the best. Bettter to run through tv first then provide sound to receiver.

No sound on tv when laptop connected via hdmi

if you are running windows xp or linus i may not be able to help altought the problem might be solved in almoust the same way. For windows vista right click on the volume icon in the system tray icons and choose playback devices select HDMI output ( for 5920G is "Realtek HDMI Output" ) then press the "Set Default" button. The other way around is to go in the Control Pannel in the "Hardware and sound" cthegory and select sount than seth the default output to Realtek HDMI Output in the "Control Pannel Home" view, or in Classic view click/doubble click on "Sound" icon ( a speaker ) and do the same. In windows XP there is a similar approach. In linux go to System ->> Administration ->> Soundcard Detection and you should find a setting equivalent to the one in Windows
