Replace the power supply.

Check the balance control. Apart from that the unit will have to be checked internally to ascertain where the signal is breaking down. This will require some skill and some equipment. My guess is it will be a dry solder joint or a dried out capacitor. If a capacitor looks 'leaky' or swollen, it is a good bet it is outside its tolerance and should be replaced. You can't!Change the batteries in the remote and look at the front of the remote using the front facing selfie camera on a smartphone. Press the power button and see if you see a red or blue flash. If you don't see light the remote has failed.You can't do any advanced features without it. you can "release" the error by pressing the "down arrow" and the "zone 2 on/off" for 2 seconds.

"enter and advanced surround keys"? I don't see that documented as a special function in the manual.

BTW: other than the Flashing light, is there a malfunction?

Resetting the main unit

Use this procedure to reset all the receiver's settings to the factory default. Use the front

panel controls to do this.

1 Switch the receiver into standby.

2 While holding down the TONE button, press and hold the STANDBY/ON button for about three seconds.

3 When you see RESET? appear in the display, press ENTER .

OK? shows in the display.

4 Press SYSTEM SETUP to confirm.

OK appears in the display to indicate that the receiver has been reset to the factory default
settings.

A PD-M403 is a CD player, nothing else and you require an amplifier to drive a loudspeaker unless you have a 'powered' loudspeaker.

To reset your Pioneer VSX-456 receiver, you can try the following steps: Turn off the receiver. there is no set. unit need to be repaired.

Check the output of the sound of the TV. Check it is output the right sound signal IE: Dolby or whatever the amp can use.

I have the same problem with my XV-DV333. Search on inet and this came up: "... Pick Out One Of These! But I am unable to select any region using the remote control or the buttons on the player. What do I do? You need to get a Pioneer Service Remote. When you have it you should press: [ESC] [A.MON] [Numbers], where [Numbers] correspond to the region number you want to set. Be aware that you can only set this once, if you set the wrong region number for your area, there is no turning back. " WTF! Am I supposed to get a service remote to get this thing working again. I haven't done anything and it worked before:/

Question edited for clarity. Question moved to model category. This is for the 508 To factory reset your Pioneer VSX-D508 audio receiver, you will need to follow these steps: Turn off the receiver. Press and hold the "Tone" and "Speaker A" buttons on the front panel of the receiver. While holding these buttons, turn the power back on. When the display shows "Initialize," release the buttons. The receiver will now begin the factory reset process. When it is finished, the display will show "Completed." Turn the receiver off and then back on again to complete the reset. Keep in mind that this process will reset all of the settings on your receiver to their default values. You will need to reconfigure any settings that you have changed since you purchased the receiver.

That type of subwoofer is not used with this receiver. This receiver actually outputs no power for a subwoofer, therefore only needs a plain ol' rca signal wire. This is due to the fact that you need a powered sub... one that you plug in to the wall and it has its own built in amp. you simply run an rca from yyour 505s to that sub.
