Thread is bunching up in bottom.

It sounds like you have no tension on the bottom bobbin reel. Did you check your tension on the bobbin reel. The tension must be right on both sides. When pulling on the cotton when the reel is in its bobbin case you need to feel a little resistance. Adjust the tiny srew on the bobbin case to tighten the reel to avoid it to turn in the casing.

How can I clean the upper thread sensor? My machine continually throws a "Check upper thread" error, even though the upper thread is fine. It seems the sensor is not "Seeing" it.

Try using waxed dental floss to dislodge the snag. Gently pull the floss toward the needle through the thread path. You might have to do it several times. You can use canned air to blow the lint out of the machine. Then make sure you are using a good quality thread. Avoid those cheap spools of thread because they usually are not spun tightly enough to prevent lint build up in the thread path.

Top thread keeps breaking

Don't ship it back and the problem is not the tension settings. Even on the tightest setting the thread should not break. Most likely the machine is not threaded correctly. Possibly, you are using too thick a thread or a needle that is too small. Solution back to basics: 1. verify that you are not using upholstery thread. Use a standard cotton poly mix. 2. the bobbin thread should be the same as the top thread. 3. consider watching a video showing the machine being threaded and make sure the needle is in the top position. 4. sew a test pattern on a normal weight fabric like an undershirt - avoid very thick material. If this solves your problem then change one item at a time. Use a heaver thread if that is what you want. If it works ok then go to a thicker material, etc. Do not change two or more things at a time..If you have a problem it makes it hard to identify the source.

Top tension with the brother Pe 770 embriodery machine

I had many problems with tension until I moved the thread spool to the back on an outside stand. Check the thread guide path for lint. If everything is good then read the manual about adjusting the tension.

My Brother PE770 is brand new and will not wind the bobbin fully. What am I doing incorrectly?

If you are comparing the amount to a pre-wound bobbin, it will look smaller. If it's close to full, that maybe the correct 'fullness'.

My Brother PE770 won't read my USB

USB thumb drives can begin to have problems with their formatting over time. Try taking off all your files and formatting it with a PC. I have a Mac and sometimes devices do not like the USB drive because the Mac has place some 'hidden' files on it. Your software may ask if you want any files erased on the thumb drive before it write the new files on it. Answer yes which will reformat the USB drive.

I am a new PE 770 owner and I need 4" fonts, any suggestions?

Check various software packages to generate designs or online at several of the sites. If you can't find one check at artisticthreadworks.com and ask the owner Holly Pike what she suggests.

My brother PE770 will not turn on what can be wrong with it

Check that the cord is plugged all the way in at the machine. It's easy to have it look like it was plugged in but it's not really seated properly. Also if you have it plugged into a extension cord check that the strip is turned on or if it has a reset button push it and try again.

Makes funny noise from bobbin and shreds upper thread

I would replace the needle, check for lint in the bobbin, or see if the thread hook just before the needle is holding the thread properly.

Brother PE-770 motor reving but not sewing

Check that the embroidery arm is slid properly into the machine base. Otherwise, it is probably a problem that needs to be fixed by a service technician.

I need to rotate my pattern by 45 degrees on my brother pe 770. I've tried going to layout but it only does 180. Any ideas?

Get software such as Embird Design to do it and then export the .PES file and transfer to the machine. Unfortunately the low end machines do not have this capability.

Loose thread

Typically Loose Thread can be a tension problem. However go through all the comments on this machine here. A solution could be as simple as putting the thread on a stand behind the machine or as complicated as a bent needle, bobbin poorly wound, etc.

How can I add a few satin stitches to a design

You need some software that can import the design and then add your stitches. Optionally, you can figure out the proper location and design the stitches to run in a separate pass. Either way you need digitizing software.

Handwheel is locked down

Several things to check. Did the needle break and jam in the bottom? Is the needle bent or did it jam in the bobbin area? I had a 'knot' of thread build up on the bottom and it hooked itself into the metal clip on the bobbin so that the needle couldn't raise. If thread jams in the bottom cut the threads until you can free the hoop and material. Check the bobbin for pieces of thread and fuzz. Check to see if the bobbin case or the throat plate is scratched or bent. If you are stitching Free Standing Lace on this machine or a piece with over 20,000 stitches I recommend starting with a new full bobbin and a new needle. As you get toward the bottom of the bobbin, thread seems to have a high likelihood of tangling or looping and will cause a jam which means the handwheel locks.
