Brother SE-270D shows F04 and it’s not a foot control issue.

Any F messages on the machine indicates that the machine is malfunctioning. You will have to take it to a dealer to have it fixed usually.

Model 270D. Why does screen go blank in the middle of embroidery pattern stitching?

If it were a matter of the LCD screen being blank when you powered up, the likely solution would be to adjust the contrast controls. But in this instance, you have the screen going blank during an operation. Lacking any more detail about the problem, I can only refer you to the following self help item which may or may not correct the problem. You have not identified whether the machine continues to operate. https://support.brother.ca/app/answers/detail/a_id/134309/related/1/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNjIwNTc2NzQyL2dlbi8xNjIwNTc2NzQyL3NpZC9mVUJ1YV8waVpoSkV1cEhvUFQ2TFBid2xPWDQxd2V6VHB5Rmh3UHlzQkZmQk00JTdFM1BiOUUzcXhQbFo4QW05VjRNOWRXNFFiQlREanBLV1NSWHZVdkhtdHlzYUE0TDlyQmJGNGlUZ21fcDNVY093SWdvSE1UNSU3RTd3JTIxJTIx

No card writer module connected.

A client of mine had this same problem. The driver seemed to be installed correctly in device manager (start, run, type "devmgmt.msc") press enter. I tried many things to get it to work. Then I downloaded the Windows Vista setup files on the brother site. That fixed the problem. I will post full step by step instructions @ http://rivertownnetworking.com

Hope this helps,

Parts fell out

WE FIXED IT!!!!! Ok my fabulous husband fixed my automatic thread foot last night and now I am sewing away. Here is what he did best I can describe. when you engage the thread shuttle, a piece comes down from the right of the sewing machine. I has a spring on the back and a very thin piece of wire with a white plastic moving part. the foot has to snap under the white plastic thing... so you have to very carefully take the white thing out of the track and then put the foot in. the bar side with the larger metal pin goes here and the foot should be facing towards the needle. Hope this helps and if I didn;t explain it well please leave me a note and I will try again :)

Brother SE-270D Jams below needle plate

Comment by margecam52, posted on Aug 12, 2008 It's the bobbin thread. Also, it does not have to be Brother brand. Any 60wt thread will work. I get mine at http://www.threadart.com
They have it on large cones, and I use a cone holder to fill my bobbins. I have not had a single problem since. I like this thread because it has a sheen to it. I also have a longarm quilting machine & I use this bobbin thread 95% of the time. Also, be sure to check the bobbin area (remove the plastic & the metal plates) for lint buildup... I have a small, soft artists paint brush that I use to remove the lint build up with. I check after every embroidery run.
And for the thread not coming through...mine does it when I change thickness of threads. There is an adjustment wheel on the front of the machine, I turn that...seems to make the difference...not even sure that is what it's for...but it works for me.

The safety device has been activated.

It is under warantee for 12 months, so I would recommend you phone the dealer to arrange for them to have a look at it.....if you have any samples of sewing, take them too.

When I stitch out my applique with my Brother

Check to see if it is a free design, sometimes this is why they are free. (they arn't perfect) or you could try and edit the design yourself and see where the problem is. It's not hard when you have been shown how, but far to complicated for me to explain, try and find someone (maybe in a machine embroidery club) to show you how. Good Luck!

Loose bobbin tension

the bobbin tension is set by that small spring plate that you pull the thread under after you put the bobbin back in the carrier / holder a very small turn of that screw makes a big difference ob the tension unlike the needle thread tension mostly the problem ( you never bothered to mention the symptom ) is bird nesting under the fabric which is the needle thread tension not tight enough

I have a Brother SE2700

Unfortunately, the part may very well be broken. Unless you can find someone to repair it for you, you may have to manually thread the needle. Not such a big deal, really. Auto needle threaders have been around for only about 10 years, so machines were manually threaded for over 100 years. Something that helps: Lick your index finger Swipe it across the "back" of the needle eye (the moisture in the eye will almost cause the thread to jump through it!) Good luck!

I have a Brother BC

Ensure that the needle is installed correctly. If the needle moves down in the needle socket (only a little bit) it causes these clumps. Loosen the needle securing screw - push the needle up as far as it will go and tighten the screw again. Try again.

Using my monogram machine

The one thing I've found is that when using the fonts stored in the machine, you need to treat each as a separate design. Then you would change the size of the Center Letter. I, too, wish the manual was more instructive. It is much easier to use a separate software program where you can create lettering and monograming. Do you have PED Basic, the program that allows you to download from your computer? That is a very good investment (about $150) and you can get free designs and download purchased lettering from different web sites. There is also a good site www.embroiderydk.com where you can join for a small monthly fee and create lettering and monograming. You also have access to over 7000 designs that you can download free whenever you want. It is well worth the price of $9.00 per month and you don't have to be limited to a bunch of emboidery cards or just the built in designs on your machine. One final idea...go the Brother.com and request more instruction on the embroidery portion.

Brother SE-270D balance wheel is very hard to turn manually

This is the first and foremost problems that I've found: The bobbin case is packed full of threads. The needle is crooked and must be replaced. 1. The bobbin case has a hook that turns to catch the top thread when the needle is down. The bobbin case assembly must be removed and cleaned totally. The bobbin case assembly is where the bobbin sits. The bobbin case has a black bar that sits on top of it. Listen the forward screw and slide the bar slightly. You will need to move the hand wheel to move the hook to the front-most position. When you have done this the bobbin case will come out easily. Clean it thoroughly and put one drop of oil on the track. This is a lower spot where the bobbin case sits on top of. Before you put the bobbin back in you need to check the tension. It is intended to be even with the top tension. 2. Replace needle and make sure it is in totally and is seated the right direction. HOPE THIS HELPS
