Heater will not fire. On

Look on the wiring diagram inside the access panel or near the access panel. There should be notes on the bottom of the diagram telling you what the error codes mean (error codes are your flashing yellow lights). Let me know if the description on the wiring diagram is not obvious. -Mark

I purchased a max e therm 200HD natural gas heater

It sounds like an incorrect gas/oxygen mix. When installing a new heater, one of the most important things to due is to check the manual for minimum acceptable gas line and pressure. If you gas pressure is too much, or too little, you can burn a brand new heater to the ground really quick.

Not only is it important to have the correct gas pressure, but the piping size for available gas is very important too.

Id say with the issues you are having, start from scratch. Goto your manual and make sure the minimum gas line has been installed. Then if you are going to do this yourself, you need to purchase a monometer to dial in the gas valve on the heater. Without a monometer you should not be installing any gas appliance. All minimum and maximum requirements will be in the manual.

Just hold the off button down for 30 seconds let up, press down again, use arrow buttons on key pad to set from 0 to 1.press off again.

post a comment for further assistance.

I have a starite propane heater i turn it on it

This is either one of two thing.
Either you pump is clogged, or failing and not providing adequate flow, or the heat exchanger has a hole in it. I would hope that it is just a flow issue as the exchangers are very expensive.
Check the pump first, and also make sure there is no leaking water from the heater

I have a sta rite heater installed about a year

If this is a propane heater and you have changed the meter that means you have natural gas. A converstion kit is avable and all it is is a washer in the gas line inside the heater. You can buy these but my wholsaler just gives them to me when I get a heater. Get your installer to do this for you first before you buy anything else. Also check the size of your gas pipe to the unit. It need's to be sized to the heater and the run of pipe. You can find this info in your book that came with the heater.

I have two error codes:

Error pertains to stack flue sensor setting.
There are two modes for low level programming and default is a (0) Zero but for outdoor spas this must be reset to a one ( 1 )
Just hold the off button down for 30 seconds let up, press down again, use arrow buttons on key pad to set from 0 to 1...press off again....play with it and see for yourself...I don't now why Sta-rite buries this information and makes us guess.

Again, on mine, this all pertains to the Stack Flue Sensor setting.... you can look at your heater and see what they look like...outside toward bottom the SF must be a 1 and not Zero or you get the quick flash 128-R8 notice...also, the Stack flue senor is finicky and connections must be good...use steal wool to re-seat but be careful as connector break off easily thus requiring a new stack flue sensor...
I accidentally discovered this when I turned the board upside down and spotted the LED red light on indicating a fault with the SFS**

I wish some one would tell us how to by-pass the stack flue sensor to make the heater work.
Good luck...hopefully the power button is close by and your board is working....

Can a SR400NA be converted to a SR400LP and if it

Their is a loop in the gas line inside the heater. It's an invereted "U" and has two unions on it. Remove the unions and pull the loop out. In one of the unions their is a control disc. All you need to do is replace this disc. The number for LP is; For the LP orface kit 77707-0441, and for the N/G to LP conversition kit is 77707-1441. I don't realy know the difference but I would think the latter would come with "O" rings that you need and such. As far as cost, I don't know. Every time I bought one my supplyer would give me one when I needed it and I would give them back the N/G part. This link should get you to your owners manual. http://www.pentairpool.com/pdfs/MaxEThermOM.pdf
Good luck and remember, gas burns. LP is heavy and will sink where N/G is light and floats away.
