How do you replace a seal on a Sta-Rite pool pump?

Replacing a shaft seal requires some good mechanical ability.
first, always make sure power is off at the breaker before you work.
You'll have to remove the band holding the wet end to the seal plate. Then remove the diffuser covering the impeller. Remove the cover on the back of the motor. You either need a 7/16 open end wrench or a armature tool to hold the motor shaft while you unthread the impeller (if the impeller has a screw in the middle, you will have to remove it by turning clockwise, left hand threads) counterclockwise. You can then pull the carbon part of the seal off of the impeller, make sure to remove all of it including the metal sleeve. You will then have to remove the seal plate and push the ceramic part out from the back. You can then clean and lube the seal plate and install the new ceramic part of the seal, try not to touch the ceramic with your hands if possible. You can then lightly lube the impeller shaft and slide the carbon part of the seal with the carbon facing toward the ceramic as you thread it on. If the seal plate had a copper heat sink, you can either replace it or use a different size seal. (I believe it's a PS-201) Re-install the seal plate, impeller (and screw if applicable) and diffuser. You should now be ready to mate the seal plate to the wet end. Make sure you fill the pump before you try starting it up, especially with a new (dry) seal.

Hose connections from pump to filter etc

what are you asking? do you want to know how to plumb the individual pieces of equipment? If so, skimmer port at the pool will go into the suction port of the pump, the port directly into the hair & lint pot. discharge off the top of the pump will go into the Inlet of the filter valve, then the outlet of the filter will go to either a heater inlet port then outlet of the heater to the pool return inlet ports. If no heater, then from filter outlet directly to the pool return inlet fitting. Good luck 24799843-w440f4xqb2ju5vbxyy5bo3yg-2-0_0.jpg

Sta rite pro jet 3/4 hp seems to be frozen..turn on and it hums then quits ..no water pressure

it sounds like you have a bad starting compositor. If your compositor is a black plastic one look next to the spade connectors in the cap and you'll see a little resest hole with a brown stopper in it. If that stopper is black, burnt or leaking oil it is bad. If you have a metal one you can set it on it's base on a flat surface. If it rocks it is bad. If the compositor is good you may have a problem with the windings and either need to replace the motor or have it rebuilt. http://www.austinpooolspecialist.com/

Loud buzzing sound began on start up

It could be several things but the most likely are: Something is spinning around with the motor shaft. Unplug the motor and "blast" water through the vent holes to clear debris. Let it dry completely before returning to service. Something could be caught in the impeller. Remove the front end and check. Squeals, loud hums, heat and vibration are indications of bad bearings.

Do u have to prime all pumps

YES all pool pumps need to be primed, failure to do so will destroy the shaft seal AND could cause serious damage to the pump and motor. starving pumps is bad also. Make sure they have water, it makes them happy.
