What spa pump replaces the Sta Rite model #
That model number you gave is the motor model number. I can however tell you that motor is a 1.5hp motor. So if your just looking to replace the motor make sure you get a 1.5 hp, with the same service factor as the old one. If your looking to replace the whole pump, then technically any 1.5 horse pump will be fine, but there are several factors you should consider. For example if your running popups, or water features, you want a medium or high head pump. There are many different makes and models of pumps out there, so you have many choices. without knowing your application, hard to recommend a replacement. Also depending on your local, suppliers in different parts of the country will carry different equipment. Hope this helps. If you need further assistance post a reply in the comments, and don't hesitate to leave a good thumb rating if you found this helpful. Thanks, and good Luck!
I have a older spa with a Sta Rite pump motor.
That would definitely be the model number. The K indicates Capacitor start and run, the 48 indicates the frame size, and the "M" indicates horsepower (1.5 hp, in your case). If your replacing the motor, make sure you get the same Horsepower and Service Factor ratings. Hope this helps. I have a sta rite
Hi,
It will be better to service the machine the machine than to change the bearing.
Servicing the machine will stop the high pitch sound and makes it work better and also reduce your cost.
Thanks for contacting Fixya.

ok, lets tackle this one step at a time. The noise in the motor. This is actually normal over time but is an indicator that you have a Bushing or Bearing in the pump assembly going out. You need to locate a pump repair kit at a pool supply and rebuild your pump. The leak where the one part screws on should be fixable with Teflon tape and a New O Ring. The problem with the backwash is a loose or leaking valve and this is also the same thing that is wrong with the debris coming back into the pool that could be a faulty valve. There is a valve that is supposed to stop that from happening. If it has been more than two years, yes the book usually says 5 but every two seems to work better, since you changed the Sand in the filter and you have a lot of debris you are vacuming, backwash the filter and consider changing the filter sand You will need to change the valve if there is a lot of debris coming back in the pool after you vacum but it is natural for there to be a little. Also, check the Filter basket on the pump to make sure it is not full. That will backwash into the pool when you switch from vacum to filter if it is not cleared. Good Luck.
I have a sta rite pool filtere and it is running
Pump motors used in most pool aplications can not be reversed. Changing the wires on the capacitor or reversing the line connections will not change the motor rotation. A failed capacitor can, from time to time, let a motor start "backwards" but it will not happen often if even at all. You might need to take the motor to a local electric motor repair shop for an inspection.

you have bought a right clapped out piece of kit by the sound of it and they say one is born every minute ?? firstly the pump is cream crackered as it has a bearing gone on the rear of the motor by the description.now as for the filter then teasy to repair as you need a new head for the filter and these things are easly obtained from a pool shop including the new rubber spiders web seal ,the head should cost about 30euros and seal about 2 euros ,as for the pump well take that to the pool shop and ask if anyone can look at it for you as they will or might know of someone. The new pump complete is around the 300euro mark so i do hope you havent paid too much for this second hand stuff say around 50 euros .I do think they should have paid you to dismantle it and remove it though. Now when you get it set up and working right use the pump on filter cycle for a 1/4 of an hour at a time every two hours to skim the bugs off ,in the winter 1/4 of an hour every 4 hours ,half a kilo of copper sulphate which lasts forever unless you empty pool .and some hydrocloric acid ,depending on how much pool is used as to the amout of acid you need to use to keep the ph down ,with the copper sulphate in the pool you will only need two chlorine pills a week and two a month in the winter .**** the bottom up once a week and away you go, you do not need to run pump for so many hours a day depending on the size of pool or use expensive pool products if you take notice of what i say ,i have had a pool for 20+years and mine doesnt cost much to maintain especially as i have bore hole in the garden that i use to top it up with so i dont have to pay for water either .want to know anything else just ask
There is a small pool
No, tightening it down is only going to fix it temporarily, if at all. You need to remove it, replace the seal, and replace it. But it's not any harder than any minor plumbing jobs would be...if you can change the trap in your sink I think you can do this.
