Try a nozzle check and head clean from the driver on your computer.
If this does not work, try switching the black cartridge.

Use the Canon software to check the ink-levels in the COLOUR cartridge. If empty, replace it.

Use the Canon software to run a few "print-head-cleaning" cycles, to unclog any ink-jets that are not spraying ink onto the paper.

You should right click your printer in printers and faxes, select properties. Now go to the maintenance tab and run both cleaning and deep cleaning twice. That should fix the problem. Good Luck !

The following may work: remove all the ink supplies. Remove the printhead and soak it for about 5 minutes in 0.5" of very hot water. Gently blot the printhead on a soft damp paper towel to remove the excess water, then replace in the printer and then reinstall the ink supplies.

What is the ink absorber.

This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible by pressing the button on the printer. To protect the printer from damage, you will not be able to print at all once the ink absorber is full.
Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. We are aware that there are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk.

Why would my Canon IP4000 Printer stop printing

Try going to control panel, printers, and check if it says your printer is ready to print..... also right-click on your printer and click cancel all documents.... It should clear the queue, often printers won't print because there are too many documents in queue and I guess it just freezes up.... Hope this helps :)
