There are several possible causes for this. Laptops are notorious for dust buildup and overheat issues. Take compressed air and blast out the vent areas. If you can push enough air through the vent leading to the CPU cooling fan, that may clear out dust clogging the fan, preventing proper CPU cooling. The next possible issue is a threat. Boot into safe mode - keep repeatidly pressing F8 key as soon as you power on - until a menu comes up. Using keyboard up/down arrow, select "Safe Mode" (with networking if available). They aren't worth fixing. You can find comparable to dell's for half of the price. They are everywhere. Just make certain it is for dell 1700.

1. Plug thumb drive or USB into the USB port on the laptop.
2. Go to My computer and see if you see "Removable Disk" if yes then you double click here and you will see the contents of the USB drive.
3. load something from the laptop or PC to the usb just drag document or program from PC drive to usb drive.
4.Go to site called "Ehow" to gain more information.
Note of caution donot just pull USB from the usb port it will erase all the information and the USB drive will then be rendered usless.
5. Remove USB in the proper manner that is goto the "task bar and look for the "safe to remove hardware" icon or go to the "my computer" icon select the "removable disk" icon ( right click) and the select "eject" if the drive is busy or a message comes up that it is then closed all programs associated to it and the "Eject" the drive and remove it from the USB port.

USB headphones. 3.5 mm head phone (small round jack ) external speakers of endless size and POWER, even 100watts Rms true power as I have here. and no 2 PCs ever made have the same sound chip or amps. not unless PN of PC is the same to the last digit. in the model and somtimes serial number tells me what sound chip was opted by you day one. Its a lap top what do you expect there, 10 watt, one inch speakers it will never happen. as they say SIZE MATTERS, in this case , IN SPADES!

there are 3 reason if the copy gray & less sharp:
1) the toner you are using is not compatible very well with the cartridge unit if you changed other compatible toner.
2) the cartridge going near the life-cycle, (also cause print blurred)
3) the photo drum going near the life-cycle
