How do you reset the hardware.?. That is what is asking fo, not the Bios password or by resetting the Bios password is that also resetting the hardware? I have a Dell Optiplex 760..

As our computer Guru Larry says, 'for sure on ancient antique computer, BIOS Battery is dead and will tell lies. No motherboard battery lasts 10 - 12 years'. Replace the battery, go into BIOS and set it up to find and use the hard drive in the list of options. When the battery is dead, the memory is lost and knows nothing of what is connected. https://www.fixya.com/search.aspx?ref=ser&s=Dell%20Optiplex%20760& ..

Windows 7 Home Premium on Dell Optiflex 760 desktop

This model was released in the Vista era but is not horribly old. I have updated some hardware from XP/Vista to W7.However Dell does not list W7 as this model predates the OS.http://www.dell.com/downloads/emea/products/optix/Optiplex_760_Spec_Sheet_en.pdfHowever, microsoft lets you run compatibility tests with the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. See: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20I would estimate your chances of success as very good - but check the MS Advisor.

How can i log in my Delloptiplex 760 computer, when its auto logging off

If running XPA log-on loop on your Windows XP computer is a difficult situation where the computer never completes its boot cycle, restarting intermittently ad nauseam.

This issue indicates a major problem with the boot functionality of your XP system.

Restore the computer to working order by utilizing the repair and restoration utility on your XP system disk.

Insert the XP disk into the computer.

Restart the computer.

Press any key when prompted to boot from the disk.

Press "Enter" at the first screen and "F8" at the license terms.

Highlight the drive containing XP and press "R," repairing the operating system boot files and removing the log-on loop.

orWindows XP sometimes has a glitch when you are logging in to your user account in order to boot the operating system.

The glitch logs you in and then logs you off the account.

This problem is usually caused by one of the programs that load during the computer's start-up.

Fixing this issue is a matter of ensuring that whatever program is causing the problem doesn't start up as soon as you start your computer.

or

Power on the computer and allow it to get to the user logon page normally.

There is no need to start up the computer in "safe mode."

Click the user who is having the issue and type in the user's password if one is set up.

Press and hold the "shift" button on your computer keyboard as soon as you see the tool bar load up at the bottom of the screen but before any other program has a chance to do so.

This stops any "Startup" program from running and logging you off.

Right-click the "Start" button on the bottom left of your screen.

Select "Explore" from the menu that appears.

Double-click "Programs" from the list on the left side of the window that pops up.

Double-click "Startup."

Select all the files inside the "Startup" folder by dragging a box over them.

Right-click anywhere on the selected files.

Select "Delete" to delete those files.

Note that deleting the programs from the "Startup" folder does not delete them from your computer.

All this does is make it so that these programs no longer start as your computer is starting so that any error in the running of the programs doesn't interfere with logging in to your account.

Hope this helps

Dell optiplex 760 tower fan noise problem

Its important to try and distinguish where exactly the noise is coming from the most typical example of this is the PSU fan (Power Supply Fan). The above also is very correct but its better to eliminate each point of failure.

How to open the case of a dell optiplex 760

Retail computer manufacturer cases can be troublesome to figure out how to open. Generally, there are two screws on the rear of the left side (facing the computer) that you remove, and then the case side slides off. There may be snaps that you must press open in addition to this (or not!). Some old cases have hinges that open the case like a door, newer cases usually do not have this. Dear Sir i have dell optiplex 760 system i am

A steady or Amber(orange) blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.
