As chap as these GPS toys have gotten just replace it is the best way to go, get a Garmin.

You can get them online. Just google it and many different brands will pop up to choose from. TomTom has decent ones. I like amazon for good deals you can try that. Hope that helps!

the dell axim x51 is a Pocket PC with built in GPS and if you cant remember the password your only option is to reflash the device and start again , as the password is there for a reason, to stop unauthorised people gaining access


Is the device yours?

check the settings for the gps connection, either bluetooth or serial, port is com4 and baud rate 9600bps

If bluetooth, (which i dont know if the axim has) you set the ppc as visible and bluetooth on, then set the gps unit into pairing mode, if asked for a pin on the axim, enter 0000

You can get this solved by restoring the device back to factory setting. Back up your files before you start this operation.

unfortunately there are no user manuals available for your model on the web.You will have to contact Dell and ask them to email you a copy of it:

You need to do a hardreset on the pda to get the password removed.

I can only presume thsi is an older handhels.
There is a small CMOS battery that has run out.
It may be a Dell only fix.
On a PC it is on the M/board.
Small flat battery like in a watch.
Take it out and get a new one from local watch shop or Jewellers or PC shop.

It sounds as if there is a small internal battery - something like a watch battery that should be keeping the clock going - I couldn't confirm this online but this was common in gps systems. It shouldn't be too hard to get to, probably have to take the back off, but it should be easy to replace. Hope this helps, please post again if not :)
