SOURCE: Rule H53sp-24 pool cover pump trips GFI breaker

GFI devices are prone to degrade over time. Also, when used outdoors there are additional moisture issues that may cause sufficient current leakage to trip the breaker.

I had a similar problem this Spring. I was using a 20 amp GFI "master" outlet that protected two additional outlets 'downstream' of it (wired to the 'load' terminals on the GFI outlet- I'd have the check the doc. to see what terminology was used here). The pump was plugged into one of the downstream outlets.

Replacing the GFI seemed to solve the problem. I did ante up $20 for an 'outdoor' model of the 20 amp GFI unit, several bucks more than the standard 'indoor' unit - have no ideal if that represented additional value or not.

Note also, that this is the third such pump I have used for my pool cover. The other two failed to come on at all after about a year's use. The mfg replaced them under warranty (I may have had to send back the old pump - I forget!).

SOURCE: broken garden hose adaptor

We have the same pump and problems. I have attempted a few fixes with PVC sealant and hose clamps to the current adaptor, however the adapter is still continuing to crack. The adapter is removable- carefully so as to not damage the small eyelet it attaches to, (or in our case, it came off on it's own) and can be replaced by any adapter that fits- they can be found all over at lowes or home depot. I am personally going to try using a broken hose and clamping it directly to the eyelet. This is not a good reason to buy a new pump- they fix too easy!

SOURCE: I have a Rule 1800 H53SP-24 Swimming Pool Cover

Hello. There are several possible issues here which are all fairly easy to investigate. Begin by bringing your pump, cord and hose into a warm space for 24 hours to thaw everything out, warm it up and dry it out. Then try it. If it works, you know you have one of the problems described below:
1. Sometimes a circuit breaker wears out and needs to be replaced. Try your pump on a different circuit, insuring that you are using a different circuit breaker. IF it works there, the solution is to replace that worn circuit breaker. 2. Check the impeller and remove any clog, blockage, debris or residue. 3. The 24 foot cord on your pump might have a cut, or a scrape on it. If it does, water is getting into the insulation and causing the circuit breaker to kick. Check your cord thoroughly and if you do have a break in it replace the cord or repair it with a waterproof repair. 4. Your pump motor may be worn or faulty or have a water intrusion. In that case the only fix is to replace the pump. 5. The drain hose could be frozen. If it is, that blockage could cause the breaker to kick. Always ensure that the hose runs consistently downhill.

SOURCE: H53SP-24 pool cover water pump: Pump quit; circuit

I have the same issue. I pulled the pump from the assembly and bypassed the circuit board inside by creating a circuit with the 2 black wires...pump worked fine. Of course, it won't cycle on and off so my guess is that the pressure switch somewhere in the circuit board is bad. Rule has a great warranty as my current unit is a warranty replacement (2 years ago). Last unit had a stamped date code on it. I contacted tech support ( [email protected] ) and got a new one sent out. The replacement did not have a stamped date code, so my fear is that they won't replace this one. I picked one up online for $99 and free shipping. If I get resolution on the broken on, I will have on as a backup.
Good luck and if yours is less than 3yrs old, contact tech support.

Hi I have just bought a Piaf creative cd the previous owners said it was working fine however I plugged it in the lights came on but nothing happens when I press the foot pedal, the fuse seems ok

Could be a variety of things, but sometimes it is the control foot. Make sure it is securely plugged in. Otherwise, it may be time for service.

Bought a pump to inflate tyres, plugged into the 12v socket, but nothing happening...is there a switch to turn the 12v socket on?

Try the pump in someone else's car to see if it is the problem first
The socket comes in two types in some trucks if there is more than one fitted one is permanently hot the other only hot when ignition switch is on . There is no switch for manual control unless the vehicle has been modified
Check the fuse that controls the aux power socket it's position depends on make and model of vehicle

I have an aqua flow master 3.8 hp xp2 pump in my hot tub, it sounds like it is receiving power as it is clicking on but it will not start. have i fried the motor? the shaft turns ok but nothing is...

Many of these pump motors have a capacitor and start & run windings. I had a pump motor a week ago that was free to rotate, but only hummed. I looked inside the back end, everything looked good, I bought a capacitor online for $7 + $15 shipping, installed it and it worked. The capacitor will have voltage & rating on the side.
BE CAREFUL, CAPACITORS KEEP VOLTAGE EVEN WHEN NOT PLUGGED IN. If you don't know how to handle them, take the motor to a local motor repair shop.

03 cavalier starts then dies

Generally when this happens all the time the fuel pump relay has gone bad. Upon starting any GM car up the fuel pump operates off the third wire on the oil pressure switch. When the oil pressure reaches operating pressure which happens in a few seconds the computer shuts off the current from the oil pressure sending unit and opens the circiut flow to the fuel pump relay. The relay will run ythe fuel pump until you shut the engine off. Replace the fuel pump relay and you shall have a good running car again

Matsui MAT 140 MR wont turn on

If you can check the rechargeable batteries try that. If you plug it into a wall socket with the adapter and nothing happens you might have other major problems. Just a little education: when you buy something especially from other countries alway check it before leaving to make sure it works. Unless there is a company that you can send the warranty unit to you may be out of luck. Sorry.
