Your thread tension is incorrect. Both the Bobbin tension has to be correct. Top bunching is caused by too loose a bobbin tension, or too tight a top tension. Watch this video

Either your bobbin tension is too loose or your top thread is threaded incorrectly.

I totally LOVE this machine! Though, in case you are not utilized to a computerized machine even if you're computer savvy and have years of sewing experience, there is a learning curve to it. You tube has lots of videos to the device and you really need to watch the one that comes with it.

I have just one criticism. I had been having a bobbin tension issue when I began embroidering with it. I knew for sure it was at the bobbin casing in my sewing experience and upon attempting to correct the twist onto the casing I discovered that they sealed it with plastic.

Then with a very small screwdriver turn it 1/4 turn into the right to tighten, test then do it again till you no longer see bobbin thread at the top of your cloth. You need upper needle tension and lower tension to balance. Aside from this it's a terrific machine for stitching and embroidery.

If your plan is to quilt also, get a different one since the place to the right of the needle is far too tiny. Should you purchase Sew What Pro you can make bigger embroidery but not the freestanding lace in larger than 4x4, or I have yet to get it to work. Overall, this machine provides a great deal of bang for your dollar for home use.
