Canon A560 camera problem - the images are overexposed. I checked the exposure setting, AWB, and all other settings and they are all normal. There is an exposure setting where I can set to + or - 2, but setting it to -2 does not help much. Outdoor photos are almost completely white. There is some detail in black objects. Indoor photos are overexposed. Flash pictures seem OK. The picture on the display is OK. I compared some macro photos taken a few weeks ago with macro photos now. The good photos have an exposure of 1/5-1/8 second with an ISO of 200. The bad (way overexposed) photos show an exposure of 1/60 second and ISO of 125. Is there an iris in this camera that is stuck open or something? If so, why does the display on the camera look normal but the pictures taken look bad?

SOURCE: exposure problem

If you set your meter based on the white (or substantially white) wall, as per the attachment, I would expect the image to be underexposed.

My canon powershot g12 lcd works fine but the photos are all 'whited' out

You may have the exposure compensation settings overexposing you images. Since it compensates without affecting the image prior to shooting, you won't see it until after the image is taken. Check that and the flash exposure compensation too.

All of a sudden the images my camera is taking look totally overexposed, is it possible that i switched some setting without knowing? why is there so much light in my pictures?

Yes, there is a setting called exposure compensation, which you may have altered.
Try switching the camera back to A (Auto) mode, and see if that fixes it.
In the manual setting modes, exposure compensation will look like this:

Make sure that you haven't set the exposure compensation to +2, for example. It should usually be set on 0.

Image is blown out

Check the "Exposure Compensation" or something similar. If it is low, will make the photos look darker. So set that to "0" if it isn't already.
