SOURCE: Frigidaire plht189sska top freezer fridge problem.

If the defrost heating element, defrost timer or evaporater fan weren't working, you'd develop a block of ice on the evaporator. Is the compressor running? If it is, it might have bad valves from the frost buildup scenario. Liquid refrigerant could have gotten to the suction valves. The sealed system should have a five year warranty. Might be time to call a pro

LG freezer not freezing, thoughts?

Condenser Coils clean or Evaporator Coils clean?

An iced up evaporator coil can cause a freezer not to freeze goods. That is caused by a failed defrost timer or a failed defrost heater.

Or it needs gas topping up.

I have an 18' 1973 Pace Arrow with a stock Dometic Refridgerator Model 4M45. It does not get cold even after being plugged in overnite. There is power to the outlet. Is there some sort of trick to get the...

You can try hitting the side... no joke. Since it is domestic and almost 40 years old however, you may want to either call the company if it still exists for assistance, or consider buying a new one. Intermittent power problems, even if it starts working, will cause a growth in harmful bacteria in your food. Even though it may look fine, you will get food poisoning- very horrible, I might add- and it is not something to mess around with.

So, if you are sure the outlet is fine, also check to make sure your outlet voltage is the same as required for the fridge as you might need a converter from an electronics store. They can also help figure out which one specific to your needs if you contact your power company and ask what the voltage is being outputted in that outlet, and bring in the info on the specific fridge's power requirements. Power lines do change over time. GOOD LUCK! I hope this is helpful.

Refrigerator not cool, freezer ok

Either the freezer continues to freeze up (most likely due to low refrigerant, due to a leak), or there is an obstruction between the freezer and the refrigerator (refrigerators get their cooling from the freezer).

Given that it works after you defrost it, I'm going with low gas. Call a professional to see if the leak can be fixed. If the unit is more than 10 years old, just get a new one.

GE TFX27PF refrigerator and freezer still not getting cold enough

the partial frost pattern is an indication of low refrigerant, restriction or bad compressor. if the unit is under 5 years old this repair will probably be under warranty thru GE. if out of warranty then you are looking in most cases between 200-500 dollars for repair. good luck Thanx peyton

Viking Imperial Fridge... Purchased in early 90's

what is the stat set to ? A common problem with bottle coolers that work the same way, is people turn the stat to high ( very cold). This then drops the evaporator temperature so low it freezes up, in turn this stops the airflow and the ice build up worsens until you get the result you have, a warm fridge due to no airflow at all. It could be short of gas as this can cause it. A faulty defrost heater / timer can also cause it if its fitted as can a faulty fan that stops spinning. Due to the age of the unit I would try turning the stat back to 3/4 and see how that goes. it will get cold but will be more gradual, but hopefully shouldn't freeze up.
