The fact that the pattern test prints ok proves that the printer is not the problem. There seems to be a few posts lately referring to your problem. I presume you are printing photos with white horizontal lines on them. If so then the printer driver is not set up correctly. You have most probably set the print quality to normal and it should be at best. With it set to best you wont have any lines in the picture. Make sure that the paper you are using is also set (ie glossy, mat etc).

Reading paper jam

these machines only have one sensor that gives the paper jam message, and its not uncommon for a foreign object to find it way inside and hold the little black lever open and give you a false paper jam message.so first remove all paper from both the cassette and rear feed, then use a torch/flashlight to look inside, you might need to open the rear door and look in there as well.

I want to throw away

If you're throwing it away, take a hammer to it. Once it's been fairly well destroyed, you should be able to find the memory card, and trash it. If not, trash all the internal boards. This has the added benefit of letting you work off a little everyday annoyance.

That's the simplest way, and the way the DOE/DOD does it, as well as many corporations....except they use an industrial shredder.

Waste ink well nearing full.

Hi
Ink absorber (waste ink pads) is a sponge pad that is located under the chamber where you insert the cartridges. You can locate the waste ink pads to the right of the cartridges. Open the cover, move the cartridges to the centre, and then press the pad of absorbent paper towel onto the waste ink pads. This will absorb a lot of ink in the pads and that will remove the warning after you reset the printer waste ink tank counter. Another thing you can do is to completely replace the waste ink pads or maybe take a hot water towel and clean it till the time you see no ink residue on the towel & then let it dry out. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

After switching the printer on

First of all, check to see if you also hookup the phone cable to jack too? If yes, temporary unplug it to see if noise goes off.
Also, open the lid to check on the drive belt. It may be loose and not able to drive the carriage. There is the gear on the right side of the carriage and a pulley on left side of the of the carriage. The spring which holds the pulley tight might be broken. Check that to see if it is the case. If it is that is why it makes loud noise when printing. And if it is not fixed, eventually you will receive an error message and printer will not work.
Check that and let me know.
Thanks

Canon Pixma MP530 died while printing. No error

If you have a multimeter check for voltage behind the transformer, check the power button is still operating correctly.
Also it may have a non-serviceable fuse that wont be listed by canon, they will charge for a whole circuit. Check the continuity of components directly after the transformer. one of these may be blown.
Hope this helps

It sounds like you may have a print job stuck in the printer queue. This will happen from time to time. So we need to clear the memory on the system.

To do this unplug all connection from the printer this include the power cord. Next hold down the power button for about 45 seconds. This will make sure that all the power is cleared from the system. Next reconnect the printer to see if you still have trouble.

If you still have trouble check all computer that you own and make sure there is not any print jobs in the print queue. If you still have trouble and/or need help checking the print queue let me know the make and model of your computer, as well as the operating system you have as this could be a configuration issue.

We are moving and need the MP530 to operate

This model printer has only an USB printer connection.
To connect this printer to a wireless network, you need additional equipment, a print server with an USB pirnter connection and then connect this printer server to a wireless router using a LAN cable.
It may be easier to purchase a new printer with wireless connectivity.

Displaying check ink despite new

If the lights are flashing fast this indicate they are empty and the printer will not work proper until replacing ..Even if the black it is just changed..it might not work if the others are flashing quick indicating cartridge empty for good..They do start to flash when it is almost empty (but the flashing are rare ..and is just an warning to change them ) ..in this case it might work to print black ..but if they are already empty ...it might display an error and do not let you print until replace them ..
In this case you may still try to make a printing in black ..but you have to reset the printer first ..
Unplug power and USB cable.
Open door and hold power button.
Connect power.
Close door, then release power button.
here is the manual in case you need it ..

Open the ADF and clean the rollers:
The rubber treads in the rollers wears down, making them smooth, so they won't pick up the paper. Sometimes, they are aged, which also gives them a smoother rounded texture, causing jams. The quick fix is to liven up that roller with a mixture of alcohol and soap. Damp a rag with the solution and wipe the rollers clean with it. That's make them more pliable and the paper jams will cease.
