Won't print - Screen message: "Service error 5C10

Hi,

This is a VERY VERY common problem on this model. Usually this is a hardware failure - ( logic board ) which is not economical to replace compared to the cost of the printer. However, the main concern is Canon does not make this kind of multifunctional machine anymore, which combines print, fax, scan and print to CD/DVD.

There are few tricks that might work. The tricks are mentioned below :-

A)

1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not,
press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal..

B)

Open the machine and remove the ink cartridges then look inside with a flash light and make sure nothing is in the path of the carriage.
Then turn off the machine and wait 30 seconds. Turn it back on and wait for the insert cartridge message. Then reinsert the cartridges into the machine.
Then move the cradle back and forth a few times manually by hand.
Then close the cartridges access door and turn the machine off.
Then unplug it and wait 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes plug it back in and turn it on.

If this does not solve the problem, you need to send the unit for repair.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hello
Unfortunitly this is not an easy fix. IF you still have under warranty you can contact Canon and they will fix it. If its not under warranty they can refer you to the nearest Canon Service center.
The 6A00 error is an internal error which can be caused by one of the following things.
- Sheet feed unit - Logic board - Purge unit

Welcome to FixYa!

"Check printer error" occurs if the printer is not functioning properly.

Solution 1.
Reset the printer to clear the memory.
  • On the operator panel, press and hold the button for one second. (The display will go blank.)
Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.
  • Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the button again.
  • Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before using it again.
Solution 2.
Reset the print head to correct print issues or clear print error.
  • Confirm that the printer is powered on and press the button. (The paper output tray will open.)

Caution: Handle the ink tanks with care so that your clothes and surrounding area do not get soiled. Make sure to remove the ink tanks one by one.
  • Raise the print head lock lever.
  • Tilt the print head slightly towards the front of the machine and lift out gently.
Caution: Do not touch the print head nozzles , electrical contacts , or ink supply ports . Doing so may cause printing problems.

My Canon Pixma MP530 will

do you have any errors displayed?
Try to reset the printer >
Disconnect the power cord from both the device and the electrical source. After disconnecting the power cord, wait at least five minutes and then reconnect the power cord.
If you are still unable to obtain power to the device, try another power outlet.
If possible, try connecting power directly to a wall outlet (as opposed to using a surge protector or power strip...just as a troubleshooting measure).

Won't Copy. error code 6A00.

A600 error

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam. Somewhere in the paper path a sensor is activated indicating paper jam so the printer will give off a 6A00 code. As a Canon tech, I usually find the code, almost 90% of the time, is related to the purge unit being jammed with something and not being able to move. Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if it is jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like. And yes I have found all those things in a purge unit. The offending item needs to be removed or the purge unit needs Incidentally, the 6A00 error pertains to all Canon printers made in the last several years; it is not just used in one model. And it is always a paper path error or purge unit.I forget myself so here goes, the purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing. I am unable to use my fax when it worked before,

Verify the connectivity (phone line) first by pluging a working telephone in the wall jack, than test the cable from the wall jack to the fax, you could install a Y to plug a working telephone with the fax on the same line to spy on what is happening when the fax is engaging a connection.

Cheers!

  1. Switch the printer OFF
  2. Press buttons 1 + 2 + 3 and 4 (simultaneously using four fingers)
  3. Keep pressing this four buttons for 10 seconds
  4. Release the On/Off button (number 4) (Keeping pressing the others)
  5. After a few seconds (when the printer go ON) you can release buttons 1, 2, 3
  1. Maybe step "c)" is not needed
  2. This procedure was used when I refilled the Black cartridge - try using the ColorCopy button instead of BlackCopy button (number 1) if you refill Color cartridge.
  3. Maybe there is no need for all the four buttons - you can try 1 + 4, 2 + 4 or 3 + 4. (or 1+2+4, 1+3+4, 2+3+4)

Canon MP530 grinding noise. Tried 2 solutions in

Someone, somewhere, suggested removing the cartridges and then the printer head, putting them back, and unplugging and then rebooting the printer. I do believe this has solved my problem. I had been living with the horrid grinding sound for many months, and now it is gone. I am crossing my fingers that this will last, because otherwise it's been a great all-in-one.

Where is the telephone input on the MP530?

If you look at the back of the printer , there are two connectors at the left side (looking from the back). They look like smaller versions of an ethernet socket (for network cables). It is called an RJ11 socket. One is for connection to your telephone socket at the wall, the other is for connecting to a telephone. There are little pictures by the sockets to indicate function.

You best option is to get canned air and possibly a q-tip and clean out the feed rollers on the printer. This should help if not someone will need to look at it physically.
