Very Hot compressor on Ice machine model ZDIS15CBSS
It's probally the condenser fan motor. Is it running during icemaking? To replace this motor you have to take the two screws out of the front of the icemake at the front adjustment screws and then tilt the
Our icemaker (2007) quit working.
Adding freon is your LAST course of action, and one which you cannot do yourselves. You should put a thermometer inside to see if the temps are below 30 degrees F, i would imagine it should be lower. this is more than just an ice maker, as ice machines like you have are basically small freezers with a water flow pattern that builds up ice in a sheet and then cuts them. These are complicated machines and there are too many things you would need to check, way too many for me to list here, that could be the cause of this failure without some idea of what is happening, ie, is it cold enough, is the water flowing, is it not running, is any ice forming etc.
GE Monogram Refrigerator won't make
Just a few basics. Check to be sure you have water coming to your solenoid valve usually near lower left side of refrigerator. Sometimes if a self piercing valve is used on the water line they will clog eventually. If you have water there, then disconnect the hose where it goes into the freezer and try blowing in the line into the freezer. Sometimes this line can become frozen not letting water in. If that passage is open, with the line disconnected, wait for a cycle and see if you can here the solenoid click, and if water flows from the disconnected water line. (have a bucket handy). If all else fails and you're handy enough you could connect voltage directly to the solenoid valve and see if the water floes to ice maker . Check valve to be sure it is 120V . If it does, then the control in the ice maker is probably bad. A complete ice maker is not very expensive.

GFI outlets tend to wear out very quickly with a refrigerator running on them, most Manufacturers do not recommend plugging any major appliance into a GFI outlet. If you plug it into a non GFI outlet and it works fine the problem is in the outlet.try and plug it into another recepticle the GFI might be bad.But if you try in another outlet and same problem then its the fault in the compressor. The compressor is heavy current consuming part. And when the compressor kicks on the high voltage current is passed ,but if the compressor or any of its supporting parts like capacitor or relay or the compressor fan is weak then it will trip the GFI.

The ice maker on my
Hello,
You can solve this yourself by taking the following steps..
Take off the back panel in the freezer. 1/4" screws. Use a nut driver or ratchet and socket with an extension.
2. Behind the frost is the evaporator and the defrost heaters. One heater in the middle and one at the bottom. They are glass tubes. If you can see the bottom heater that is great. If not use a hair dryer and defrost only the very bottom to expose the lower heater only.
3. Now in the refrigerator section at the top where the controls are, take off the long plastic piece to expose the timer. The timer should be on the right hand side and have a little circle that is slotted. Get a flat screwdriver and turn that timer slowly clockwise just until it clicks and the refrigerator turns off. This will put it into defrost.
4. Now look at that heater that you exposed and see if it glows and gets hot. If it does, then the timer is bad.
5. If the heater doesn't come on then go ahead and defrost the rest of the evaporator with the hair dryer. This will take a little while. Don't poke at the evaporator!!!
6. Once totally defrosted look at both heaters. They should look like clear glass and see a silver coil running thru them. If they look discolored at all then the heaters are bad. The heaters come as a complete assembly with the defrost thermostat which clips onto the evaporator.
7. If the heaters look ok the only way to know for sure if they are bad is to check continuity with a meter on the plug at the end of their wiring harness. If you can check that then you can splice in a new defrost thermostat to solve the problem. However the best thing to do is replace the heaters and defrost thermostat . It is easy to install.
Follow these steps and this will solve your problem.
