Green light on power nozzle of Kirby vacuum, Model G7D
The green light is just to inform you that the brushroll is spinning. there is a magnet on the brushroll that makes the green light come on every time it rotates. also why it looks like the light flickers because the magnet only makes contact once per rotation of your brushroll. Let me know if you have any other questions.

There is a hand grip built into the bottom of the housing to help remove it. If it has not been removed on a regular basis to dump out heavy debris, it may be stuck. Use a screwdriver as a lever and pry it outward from the motor unit to remove it and inspect for damage. For easy re-installation, wet the seal on the motor outlet. It attaches by a simple bayonet mount. Remember the motor will not run unless the bag assembly is securely installed.
My G6 Vacuum won't start,
The Kirby does not have a restart button. There are a number of reasons why it may not start. First be sure the bag assembly and rug head or hose are properly in place. The motor will not run without them firmly in place. If this is not the problem, the next thing to check is the cord. Remove the plastic cord cover on the base of the unit, pull the cord straight out to unplug it, and check the cord for continuity with a voltmeter. Wiggle the cord around a bit to be sure it is conducting current continuously. If the cord is good, either the switch has failed, or the carbon brushes in the motor have worn to the point where they are not making good contact with the motor armature. This will usually require professional repair.
Kirby does not start.
Electric cord
If you have tested the cord with a voltage meter, and are sure it is good, there are several other possibilities. The Kirby is designed so that it will not start unless the bag assembly and rug head ( or attachment hose ) are fully in place. Be sure the fiberglass housing at the bottom of the bag is tight against the side of the motor unit. If this is not the problem, your switch has probably failed and needs replacement. A less likely problem on a machine this new is that a carbon brush in the motor has either become badly worn, or is stuck in it's holder and will need replacement.

It is most likely the switch. To be certain, hold the lower switch button on the front in with a small screwdriver and push the switch. BE SURE to push the button in first, and then the switch. If the motor doesn't start, you need a new switch assembly.
