Idle adjustment is done on the left (driver) side of the motor by turning the adjuster on the black cable running to the control box at the console. There are 2 one is tensioned to select the gearing. F - N - R

Could be fuel or thermostat ... if the water isn't getting to the motor when it needs to cool it will stall .. Usually takes 10 min or more of its partly plugged with sand or debris. Remove thermostat and flush... some have two thermostats.

Couple of possible problems. I would tend to lean to wards carbon build up on the piston . What happens is over time you will gain carbon , as the engine runs it super heats and when its hot enough it will cause the gas to ignite at the wrong time and actually stall the engine. Imagine you are pushing a rotary door in the mall and every time you pass the enterence to the mall another person jumps in and helps push ... everything spins easily . . Then some clown jumps in and gets caught in the frame ... everything stalls. To fix this you will need to take the head off and clean out the carbon. Might take a bit but it can be done . Had this happen to a mechanic friend of mine... he repaired a 9.9 got paid for the job and the motor would run for 20 min and quit couldn't figure it out to save his soul. Until we put our heads together. Checked every possible thing only to figure out it was a carbon problem.

1959 model would be premix fuel/ oil so any oil will be a result of excessive oil in the fuel and not burning up

Check your wiring at the engine. When your key is rotated you will have a complete circuit which powers your accessories, motor, and if that circuit is broken your engine should shut down .. So either your key circuit to the engine is staying powered from a faulty ignition switch or someone didn't set up the wires properly.

There is no gap as they use the flat plug that does not have an adjustable ground electrode. If it is older 35 thousandths will do the trick

Usually, replace the recoil spring. You also, may be able to increase the wrap tension by: 1) pull spark plug (easier to manipulate spinning the motor) 2) wrap the extra loop of rope around the start pulley gear. sometimes there is a bracket, etc. to work around

Sounds like you need marine grease in the bracket.. Should be like 6 or 7 grease ******* around there. They need regular greasing

Probably the pump but could be a vacuum leak
