My electrolux canister oygen vacuum cleaner will

This is often caused by a failure of a fuse on the Sumo board, or occasionally by a failure of the cord reel. Here are some instructions on how to check these things as a response to a different thread, but I will repost them here:

--
There is a board in the back (called the "SUMO board") which has a fuse hardwired to it. Most of the "no go" problems with this machine are related to this.

In order to check it, you'll want to take a thin flat-head screwdriver, and gently pry up the silver panel on the top of the machine. The easiest place to do this is on the side of the panel, as far toward the rear of the machine as possible.

You will then need to remove the 2 Torx screws on the rear panel, and the top body of the machine should then be able to be removed. There are two clips in the bag chamber, directly under the back portion of the bag compartment lid, which can be pressed in to facilitate removal of the back cover.

The sumo board will be sitting directly on the top of the machine, and the fuse in question will be on the right if you are looking at it from the rear of the machine. Unfortunately, if the fuse is blown, you will have to replace the entire circuit board. (Unless you feel very comfortable with soldering a new fuse onto it, which I do not recommend for safety reasons.)

You can also check continuity of the cord reel from here. On the right hand side of the board are two spade terminals leading to wires running down into the cord reel assembly. One black, one white. Checking the continuity between these terminals and the ends of the power supply cord will allow you to determine if the cord reel is providing power to the machine.

Accessing the cord reel will require you to remove the six Torx screws holding the main body to the base. Two of these are on the rear of the machine, and are very deep inside; so you will require a very long-shanked Torx driver to get at these. Two more are inside the bag chamber at the rear, and the other two are on the front handle assembly. This will allow you to lift the main body away from the base, and if you are replacing the cord reel you can pull the wires from the spade terminals and the socket on the sumo board, and feed them back down into the cord reel chamber to remove the old cord reel.

Reassembly is simply a reverse of the previous. Beware, however: getting the cord reel to align is something of a chore, so make sure that you have the retraction system functioning before you put the whole thing back together, or you'll be bummed when you finish reassembly and the cord won't retract.

How do I install a new bag into the electro lux

I had the same problem. I was worried about pulling on the cardboard, that it would break. There is a little yellow lever and I could not understand what it was for. Finally, I decided to go ahead and pull on the cardboard and slide out the bag. It worked. I am not sure the yellow lever does anything, although it might help to push it to the right. The bag slid out and the new one slid in.

Turbo Brush roller problem on Electrolux Harmony EL6985

To get the bottom off, you have to remove the two big wheels by popping them out, and there are two more screws underneath. Once you remove those screws, you can pop the housing halves off and get to everything inside so you can clean it.

Sounds like your machine may have overheated and tripped the motor protect fuse. Does it turn back on after an hour or so?

Check your hose for blockages. Disconnect the hose from the machine and get a small marble and see if it will pass from one end of the hose to the other. If there ism you may need to pass a broom through the straight end to try and dislodge.

Make sure the you don't have a full bag. Also check the motor filter inside the bag cavity to check for blockages.

If there are no blockages and the bag is findm you may need to refer to a Service Center. It's a reasonably new model, so check your warranty papers.

Carpet rollers dont work

Hi There,

Yes, there is a reset switch on your Electrolux. This particular model also has some problems with the wands on the machine as well. Sometimes these wands will short out, preventing the power nozzle from working.

Try pushing the reset switch first to see if this fixes your problem. The reset switch is located on the power nozzle on the right hand side if you're looking down on it. It will be a little red pole, simply push this pole downwards, possible using a ball point pen is the easiest way.

If this didn't fix your problem, then it could be a few different things. The wands on your model are problematic, and should be the next thing that you test. Simply remove the wands from the power nozzle, and you can use a simply electrical tester purchased from Home Depot, and put the testers into the female receptacles on the end of each section of wand to ensure that power is getting down to the brush.

It may also be that your hose has gone bad. If you test both wand sections, and no power is getting through, remove both wand sections and test the female electrical connections on the end of the hose handle.

If you're not getting power here, this indicates that your hose has gone bad and needs to be replaced. We do carry all of the hoses for the Electrolux canisters, and most likely have the one for yours in stock. Please feel free to contact me if you need any further help.

Thank you,

I have a 15 yr old electrolux genesis upright

There are two small screws at the end of the brush roll on some of these. There is a bearing block recessed into the housing at a slight angle to help tension the belt, so it comes out at an angle as well. It often fills with grit and you must clean the grit out carefully without damaging the blocks or housing. Sometimes WD 40 helps is the area has any rust build up. Then work a large screwdriver under one end the brush for leverage being CAREFUL not to damage the brush housing. Do not soak with WD40 as it will also get into the brush roll bearings

Power hose not working

your belt on the brushroller could of broken off. Check to see if it's broken, and if so, go to a local vacuum shop for a replacement belt. Maybe you should bring the vacuum in and have it inspected to see if there's anything else that could of happened to your machine.
