Drills

It does not appear to be reversing. If it was it should have a lever right above the switch. Not worth much either since parts are no longer available to repair it.

When tighten, keyed drill chuck gets stuck

Did the left hand screw inside the chuck come loose? This happens a lot and when it does the screw will back out a little and block the jaws from closing. If not I use dry graphite lube.

How to unstick the chuck

Hi Gregory,You can use a 6 inch pipe wrench on the top of the chuck and an eight inch on the large part of the chuck.Put a rag in the pipe wrench jaws.Lay the drill on a flat surface with the chuck pointed at you.The handles face the same way, small one on the bottom to lock the chuck and the 8 inch on top so they look like scissors. Depending on which way the chuck is jammed will determine if the handles are on the left or right side.Gloves and safety glasses will make holding the top wrench with a bit of force to lock every thing in place. Now just a tap on the end of the eight inch wrench will loosen the chuck. If the set up is wrong you will only jam the chuck more. Thank you for choosing FixYa.

Black & Decker cordless drill 9.6V chuck will not come off shaft

If it won't close the only other option you have is to break the outer collar and use a chisel to hit on the exposed jaws inside the chuck. I have detailed instructions in the tip section on how to remove a chuck from these drills. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Should I be seeing a spark through the ventilation

not unusual to see sparks - could indicate high wear on com. If drill gets VERY HOT then suggest you take it to an electrical repair shop to have it checked out. If drill remains at a normal temperature then I would LEAVE WELL ALONE

My Black & Decker 0-1200

You have not mentioned a model number but look just above the drills trigger and see if there is a lever that moves under the drill above the trigger, that is the most common reverse switch location. The other is a switch on the top of the drive that slides back and forth to change the drill from forward to reverse and visa versa. If it is not in either location i will need the model number of the drill to look up the instruction manual.

I have two drills, two

I have to agree, I assume you have tried the the same battery on both chargers? is it possible that one charger ruined all the batteries? I wish I could offer some real help other then to say "hmm." But my best guess is that one charger ruined all the batteries. unless you use them both at the same time, then it would be hard to have them all quit at once. -

The chuck is frozen on

Hi,

Yes, they are an inferior product. However you can replace the B & D chuck with a Jacobs chuck that will hold up and last for a long time!

Can a rechargeable battery be obtained for

I would recommend to check in your yellow pages under batteries. Ask them if they replace batteries in the unit that you have. Generally the batteries that come in cordless units are the cheapest units that die rather quickly. The replacement batteries have more power and longer life. And they are generally half the price of a new unit.

Cordless drill - model KC9682C

If light is on charger the charge is fine. You could verify using voltmeter it should put out = to what it says on the back of charger 12-18 volts or so.
Most likely battery is shot after 8 years they just dont' hold a charge anymore and they often will only charge for a few minutes when the chip in the computer tells the charger to shut off due to defective battery.
compare prices of new drills and new batterys sometimes new drill is not much more. Try ebay and harbor freight for ultra low priced batteries.
