How do you know when a black and decker battery's life is over

Normally when it will no longer hold a charge, that is, no matter how long you charge it, the battery goes flat very quickly. This happens sooner with Ni-Cad batteries than with Li-Ion.

I can't release the bit from the chuck.

If it is jammed then hold the bit in a vice and try to knock the chuck off with a cold chisel or suitable piece of brass. then you can remove the chuck screw and replace the chuck. You should not be able to see the bearings underneath.

I droped my 18 volt cordless B&D on the floor and

if it went to pieces when you dropped it, I'll just bet a manual won't help you, I'm thinking a case of super glue.

The drill has stopped charging up. No obvious

It may be the charger, but most likely the battery can no longer hold a charge. This may happen if the battery drops below its holding charge. Example, left discharge for a couple months. There is little that can go wrong with a charger unless you start smelling burnt plastic from it.

Smokes from brushes when trigger is pulled

Time to crack it open and have a look at the brushes at the back of the motor, they may be worn down to nothing or contaminated with something that spilled on the drill.

I would contact the nearest service center and buy some new brushes for they are very inexpensive.

Cheers,

Kevin

Charger not charging have 2 new chargers neither 1

You should probably contact Customer Service regarding this. I'd say it's a problem with the batteries rather than the chargers considering this looks like a recent EPC model - 1800 444 224

Where can I get a battery for Black & Decker Drill CD 1000?

This will be a suggestion...but for mine I bought two 18650 LiFePo4 cells (3.7V each) and replaced the original NiCd Batteries. It has been working for many years now, since the original batteries expired and stop working in 2002 (I bought the CD 1000 back in 1994!!!!!). You have to use a special charger for the new ones but they stay charged a lot more and the drill has more torque.

Black & decker 40 volt battery is put on charger it flashes the green light twice then the red light flashes continueously qwhat could be the problem

hi, have you seen this ? https://support.blackanddecker.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012702998-If-my-battery-is-not-charging-what-can-I-try-#:~:text=If%20your%20battery%20is%20not,charger%20to%20try%20charging%20again. Now i don't think that's the issue , it more likely the cells won't take a charger or the bms electronic board has failed , with those battery packs it can be a electronics problem or a failed cell , One thing you might want to check is the actual connection to the battery pack..i seen a issue here where there is a bad connection , the charger won't charge regards Rob
