Replace floppy drive with USB on a Designer 1
Check with a Viking dealer whether Viking offers a conversion kit. My guess is that rather than offer such a kit, Viking would rather sell replacement floppy drives or a newer model of machine.

Hi Vina,
Since you can't get any response to your Menu-Norm-Prog-Rep-Set-or Help on your touch screen but you can get into your stitches, It does sound like you need to re-calibrate your touch screen. Normally you would get into your Set Menu to access your touch screen calibration. But as suggested on another solution. You turn off your Des 1, Holding in the reverse button (bottom left of the eight buttons) and the pivot button (the second one from the bottom of the four buttons) at the same time and turn on your machine. This is the Service menu that pops up (try not to touch anything on this screen, it could really mess things up if you don't know what you are doing) After this screen pops up go over to the eight buttons on the far left of your machine and touch the needle up, needle down button (top right button of the eight) the Calibration Screen will pop up on your touch screen (two plus marks labeled 1 & 2) In your sewing sitting position touch the center of the #1 mark and then the #2 mark. Once you've done that the Service Screen will pop back up. Shut off your Des 1 and restart it normally. Try getting into your different menus- Menu-Norm-Prog Etc. Hopefully that fixed your Calibration issue!
** Note: If the service menu doesn't pop up when trying to hold in these 2 buttons together and turning on your Des 1 the buttons weren't held in properly and you need to turn it off and try it again.

Fix button won't work in embroidery mode
Just to make sure you know what "Fix" does in Embroidery Mode - you press it before you start your embroidery then when you press Start, the machine will baste a square or rectangle the size of your embroidery before moving back to the centre ready to start the actual embroidery. It is not used to Fix stitches in embroidery mode (like it does in regular sewing mode) and it must be used before the embroidery is begun if you want the basting. Is this problem you have? It will not do the baste stitch?

Service Menu For Husqvarna Designer SE
Hold down the start button and the presser foot pivot buttons at the same time and turn on the power. The machine will make a funny noise and the test screen will come up. You then need to find the sub-menu, I think it says tensions on it but I'm not sure.

The reverse button stopped working
You will need to have the 8 button keypad replaced. Find your nearest authorized dealer. When you explain to them exactly as you did here, they should know and tell you the same thing I did.

The H0033 error is a
known issue, but it is nothing wrong with your software or the physical dongle
!
The issue is
related to the Anti-Virus/Firewall software settings in your computer.
This is why it can work on one
computer and doesn't work on
another.
There are unfortunately a lot of
different firewall software products available on the market, so it is not easy
to give exact steps to correct this for each and every available
product. You need to tell your Anti-Virus program to allow the software to open.
Herewith
is a way to change the settings on Norton 2008. If your are using a
different Anti-Virus and understand the logic behind it, you should be
able to change the settings:
Norton Internet Security
2008
1.
Open Norton Internet Security 2008
2. Click on the
Options link on the bottom left of the screen.
3.
Click on Norton Internet Security from the drop-down list.
4. The Norton Internet
Security Option screen will open.
5. Click on the
Personal Firewall link on the left of the screen.
6.
Click on the Program Control link.
7. Select the
hasplms entry.
8. Change the Access
drop-down list from Custom to Allow.
9. Click Apply
then click OK.

Dongle won't work
did you try the dongle in another port... yes if you can find the patch you can load it onto a flash drive or sd card and then upload it over to the new pc

Designer 1: upper thread shredding while embroidering
I too, have the same problem withmy Designer 1. I just bought ISACORD brand polyester embroidery thread to hopefully solve this problem, but I believe it must be a tension problem. I have a "date" with the repair lady on Friday (11/22/08) and if it gets repaired I will re-post what the problem was. Still love the machine WHEN IT SEWS!!

I am having a terrible
try a
Jean-a-ma-jig or Hump-jumper
trying to sew over a bump of fabric, such as a thick jean hem, try using this tool
local fabric store should carry it
It keeps your pressure foot level as you sew over the
bump
you said your needle plate has many strike marks on it,,make sure you can't feel the strike marks so the fabric won't hang on them,,because marks on a needle plate can pulled the fabric

Tension problems with top thread husqvarna emerald
Make sure the upper thread is seated complete in the tension disk:
Remove the upper thread from the machine. RAISE the presser foot. Rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct The machine's default tension should work best at the midway point between high & low number.

My laptop which has windows 7 on it does not
there is an update for windows 7 and dongles at the husqvarna viking website.
From Husqvarna Viking website -
When installing the 4D Embroidery System onto Windows 7 computers, the dongle drivers may not initially work correctly, as the 4D Embroidery System installs a set of dongle drivers which were created before Windows 7.
Download and install the latest dongle drivers prior to installing the 4D Embroidery System. Failure to do this, may result in the "Dongle driver not found (E0009)" when you try to open the 4D modules.
Please follow the steps below to install the latest dongle drivers BEFORE installing the 4D Embroidery System
- Download and install the latest Dongle Drivers.
- Insert your 4D Dongle.
- Install your 4D Embroidery System software (and all updates).
- Open your 4D Embroidery System software to confirm that your dongle is working correctly.
If you installed the 4D Embroidery System software before installing the latest dongle drivers and if you experience problems such as the error message "Unable to start hasplms service..."; download and install the latest Dongle Drivers.
