Try moving the bobbin rewinder back up?!

I purchased my designer se in 2006, and the frozen screen happened for the first time tonight as I was installing fonts on the machine. I did as suggested...got into update mode and installed the latest update and it worked! Thanks so much. I thought I would have to pay a lot of money to have the problem resolved. I am a happy DSE owner.

Get a service manual from a source such as sewusa.com I've never seen a schematic. The power source (12v) for the bulbs is from the main circuit board mounted behind the front cover so you have to disassemble all the covers to get to it. If the problem is more than burned out bulbs or the cable connection I suggest consideration of an external LED light rather than trying to troubleshoot the circuit board. Hello The dongle is activated when plugged into the PC.

take your machine to a Viking dealer and have them check it out. it probably has a worn 8 button keypad. the reverse button is usually the first to wear out. this not a DIY project.

if the touchscreen cable is broken or damaged, the only fix is to replace the touchscreen assembly with a new unit which includes a longer and more robust amber color cable . I suggest that this repair should only be done by an authorized Viking dealer.

Probably the Thread Out sensor is too sensitive. We just disconnected it on several of our machines. Not necessary as you're watching the machine 99% of the time when you're using it. Bill in Oregon

the touchscreen cable may have come loose or perhaps the touchscreen has failed. take the machine to an authorized Viking repair dealer to have them troubleshoot it. d

You may need 5d or 6D to be compatible with windows 7 or 8. Check with your authorized Viking dealer for upgrade options.

Certain brands do not work and if you use a USB of many Gigs, it won't work either. Try using a different brand USB or a smaller GIG.

Winding too tight;
Whenever your bobbin won’t come off any Viking, Designer 1 included, it’s because it wound too tight. This is how you know. It went on easy! To get it off, don’t pry, slowly unwind all thread, it will change shapes and let go of the bobbin winder. My favorite way to wind a bobbin on a Viking is to thread the machine through the needle and go under the foot then up to the bobbin winder (it has to be under the foot or it winds too tight. If it still winds too tight, lay your thread down instead of standing it up, the weight of the thread can increase tension on the winding process also check that you use a spool cap as large as or slightly larger than your spool. If it still winds tight. I’ll explain what bad thread can do.

Test your thread quality to start, thread your machine and LIFT the presser foot (this opens the tension disks). Pull your top thread straight back. If you feel no tension no mater how much thread you pull, your thread is good. If that your machine passes that test (tip: always check your thread this way when you thread your machine)

Sadly there are none available, keep your old computer just for that job.

Sorry, an external floppy drive will not work for a Designer 1. You would have no where to plug the cable in to. The internal floppy drive is quite expensive. You might want to look around for a used Designer 1. You can probably find one for $400-$500. Replacing the floppy drive on yours would cost you almost $400 depending on the local dealer pricing.

Do you have a older computer. Probably yes is the answer. How did previous owner operate. Call manufacturer.

The stick will show up as a drive letter. Switch to that drive letter and then highlite all the files on the CD drive Click copy. Change to the drive letter of the stick and then paste the files onto the stick.

The reverse button works by hitting it twice in succession to make it stay on (it lights up), and you turn it off my hitting it once again. If you just want to reverse for a little bit, you hold it down while you sew, then let go. Is the button lit all the time?
Having said that, it sounds like Nannayoyo needs to take her machine to a service centre - the electronics behind the button panel might need replacing. Is it possible the button is stuck in? Maybe phone a Husqvarna service person - not a sales person - and ask for advice.
Everyone - are your machines new? If yes, you need to go back to the sales centre straight away and get it fixed or replaced while you wait. If these are problems that have just appeared when your machine used to work perfectly, probably the best solution is to take it for a service. It might just be a speck of dust has settled on the electronics behind the panel and is causing unpredictable behaviour.
