Install another cd unit that is recognized by bios so you can install the software. Without that you can do nada! If another known good player is used and it also is not recognized then you have an issue with your CMOS - not a good thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recommend that you first try replacing the power cord, if that doesn't work try replacing the power supply.

There is a spring-loaded retaining pin with a blue cap in the center of the motherboard. Pull up on the cap and the motherboard can be slid forward in the case for easy removal.

Sounds to me the server is down at the moment, give it 10 mins and try again. If still happens let your ISP know of the isure, server needs a reboot

The CD may not be the operating system CD. What is the full text on the disk and what are you trying to do.

Windows 2000 is not supported on this machine. The closest you could get is using a hypervisor XenServer or VMWare ESXi and then installing Windows 2000 on a virtual machine.

Try another DVD. Is the data cable connected? Can you see the drive in Explorer?

Computer not recognizing the hard drive. Look in BIOS to see if hard drive is listed. Reload system disc/CD.

What Dell system do you have? The OptiPlex light diagnostics are given here: http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN284978/en . Prior to 2005, they used the ABCD labels. This site, http://www.pctechbytes.com/dell/dell-diagnostic-lights/ , has some of the common codes. As far as I know, the Poweredge 830 didn't use these diagnostic lights. Later, Dell switched to numerically labeled lights. Resetting the power supplies isn't necessary. Once one of the ptwo power supplies fails, the second power supply automatically takes over. Also, there isn't a need to power down the system to change the supplies as long as you change them one at a time.

The first thing I would check would be the power supply.

You can try resetting the BIOS by unplugging the server and open the case to get to the mother board ,once into the MB look for the Bios battery and take it out , once out hit the power button this will discharge any power stored on the MB , After you have done this re install the battery close up the server plug in the power supply and try to sccess the BIOS.
