Boot to CD Symantec System Restore

I think you do not boot to this file, you must do the restore first and then boot to drive.

Where is poweredge 1800 display led connector

http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/KCS/KcsArticles/Print?he Embedded System Management (ESM) log - also called System Event Log (SEL) or hardware log - reports potential hardware problems in Dell PowerEdge servers. Sometimes, simply turning off the server and disconnecting it from the electrical outlet will remove the error message. Wait approximately 10 seconds, and then reconnect the power cable and restart the server. Other times, you will need to clear the ESM log to remove the error message. For instance, error code SEL FULLindicates that you will need to clear the ESM log. (You will lose the server's event history.) There are different ways to clear the ESM log. To use DSET to Clear the ESM Log
  1. Download and open the DSET utility.
  2. Click the plus (+) next to System, and then click the plus (+) next to Logs.
  3. Click ESM to highlight it.
  4. Click Clear ESM Log located in the upper-right corner of the page.
To use OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA) to clear the ESM log
  1. Start OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA).
  2. Log in to OMSA by entering your username and password, and then press Enter.
  3. Click the Logs tab, and then click Hardware.
  4. Click Clear Log located next to Options.
To use Dell IT Assistant to clear the ESM log
  1. Start IT Assistant.
  2. From the middle System Tree bar, select your server by clicking it.
  3. Click the Logs tab, and then click Clear Log in the upper-right corner of the page.
Find your Dell PowerEdge server model in the chart below for other ways to clear the ESM log: PowerEdge server model How to clear the ESM log 2300, 2400, 2450, 2500, 2500SC, 2550, 4300, 4350, 4400, 6300, 6350, 6400, 6450 Use the Log2Txt.exe utility to clear the ESM log:
  1. Start your server to the Log2Txt utility.
  2. When you see the ESM Log main menu appear, press 2 on your keyboard to select Clear ESM log.
  3. When the ESM Log main menu reappears, press 5on your keyboard to exit the utility.

  1. Type the IP address of the Remote Access Controller (RAC) in the web browser address bar, and then press Enter.
  2. Log in to the RAC.
  3. Click the Logs tab, and then click Hardware.
  4. Click Clear Logs located in the upper-right corner of the page.
1850, 2800, 2850, 6800, 6850 Use the program BMCCFG.exe to clear the ESM logs:
  1. Download and extract the Dell OpenManage Deployment Toolkit here.
  2. Go to x:\Dell\Toolkit\Tools, where x is your primary hard disk drive.
  3. Copy the file BMCCFG.exe to a bootable floppy disk.
  4. Start the server from the bootable floppy disk.
  5. At the command prompt, type bmcc - clearsel, and then press Enter. The message "Clearing SEL" will display while the log clears.
1950, 2900, 2950, DP500, DP600, NF500, NF600 Use the BMC/BIOS to clear the ESM log:

Install of windows 2003 server

1) is it an old server, perhaps the DVD drive needs cleaning 2) Perhaps the Windows DVD needs cleaning, check for scratches. 3) is the Windows DVD an original? if it is a copy or download, maybe the DVD is not bootable or the image is damaged 4) is the installed Drive definitely a DVD, the drives in that server were optional so are you sure it is not just a CD drive that is installed. How about downloading or creating a bootable USB image and try booting from that. Look online, Win2003 Server USB images may be available for download

I have a blue vertical flashing light showing just

Great thanks,

That's just a system indicator flash. Solid blue means on and normal, blinking means someone either turned on the system indicator in the management software or bumped the indicator switch on the back of the server. This was designed to make easier transitions from back to front when working with multiple servers in a rack. To turn the indicator off, just go to the back of the server and find the Ethernet and usb ports that are together. If the usb is the bottom and Ethernet port is the top then just to the right you should see a small blue blinking light and a button, pushing the button wil turn the blinking off.

Again, no worries this is just a "locator beacon" not an error message, if the light ever blinks yellow then you have an issue.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

Dell poweredge t105 freezes at boot

You will have to get into the controlled setup in order to find out what the problem is, or you can simply hit ctrl-D and do the Dell disk diagnostics which will take an hour or more, but will give you an idea of where to start. Logically, if it won't boot, then your RAID is probably broken. it can sometimes be repaired through either the RAID or controller setup menu, which you can see during boot. go here, for the manuals and documentation on how to do that: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/poweredge-t105/manuals

How do i perform a master restore on the Dell PowerEdge 750 server so i can boot it from scratch?

When you reboot it, you should see the reapir menu option, hit the key indicated there and you should get another menu that allows you to restore your system to factory configuration. Of course, this all depends upon whether you selected a restore partition when you originally bought the server. if you did not, then you will need the dell install DVD, which will have all of the drivers and will walk you through installing a fresh OS. You will also need the OS disks at that point.

If the BIOS password, some dell's have a jumper to reset that.
A piece of software ERD commander may enable you to reset a windows account password.
