Heater, ac and fan speeds all working fine. Compressor not kicking in...just auxiliary heat working.

Outside temp too low, so outside thermostat and it's settings will not allow the heat pump to work. But insist on the ausilary heat to work instead. Heat pumps usually do not produce enough heat when below 40F outside temp. If you have Gas heat, it may be more economical than the heat pump below 40F. If electric auxilarry heat, it may compete at 32F. Talk to your dealer, installer, or manufacture.

I have an Amana PTAC ac 15000 BTU that has stopped, the power cord keeps tripping. I removed the power cord and plugged it in to the socket and the breaker did not trip, any clues. I'm thinking of jus

I think you've gotton your moneys worth with ten trouble free years. The power cords safety device is a bit more sensitive to a high resistive short to ground than your breaker is. I would suggest that there is exactly that: a high resistive short to ground within the cabinet of the PTAC. It has been years since I have been on a PTAC call and am unable to suggest specifics. But if you are competent and capable of using a DVOM, open up the unit and begin a systematic approach of determining the problem. The FIRST thing I'd do is check the motor and the compressor with a digital megohmeter. Sometimes their problem will only show up with this sensitive device.

Hear pump keeps running constantly, why won't it shut off?

if some units detect ice they will leave the fan running in an attempt to defrost the coils. If it's the outside coils and it's warm enough inside, try running the air conditioning for a few minutes, that will put hot coolant through the coils and could melt the ice for you.

Fan won't stop even when thermostat removed.

If you have a digital thermostat. You should first check the programmed settings. Most probable cause is the main relay. First you need to disconnect the power from the system. This can be done by flipping the circuit breaker. Make absolutely sure that the power is off before removing the service panel. The main relay is probably located at the air handler. (Big metal box near where you change your filter.) Remove the service panel and locate the relay. It will look like a plactic box with 4 or more wires connected to it through the controller. Once located, tap on it gently with the handle of a screw driver. Replace the panel and restore power to the system. Make sure everything is turned off before restoring power. If that works then you will want to contact a reputable HVAC shop to replace the relay. Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/john_28069c9efb56199d

A line cracked in my Amana split system heat pump and I lost all my freon. The repairman found the crack in the outside part of the system. He fixed it and said it would cost around $450.00 to refill

You need to put a vacuum pump on the system prior to recharging. This will get rid of moisture. Could take an hour, but is required...and recommended.

If the igniter turns orange and the gas fires for only a second or two then your heat sensor needs to be cleaned with sand cloth, if it does not turn orange then your igniter needs to be replaced.

I have removed front cover on amana model ptc153b35am unit says it has got a manaul reset for heater cannot locate it can you help

The manual reset is a small switch on the computer control board. If that doesn't fix the problem, while you are there, you will see 2 small black boxes wired into the computer board marked "heater 1" and "heater 2". These are relays, one of which has probably gone bad. You can either order a computer board for about $100 or replace the relays yourself with a soldering gun. You can order the relays for $4.02 apiece from Digi-key Corp. Part # is JTN1aS-PA-F-DC5V for the relay.
