Be sure that the brush roller is dusengaged.
To do this you:
* Lift up the headlight lamp
*Turn the handle until the red arrows line up
Ha.. Im so stupid! The vacuum was in drive causing the wheels to turn when moving backwards thus leaving scuff marks
(from the rubber wheels) on the hardwood. Place the Vacuum in Neutral and turn the belt off and Voila, No more scuff marks! Thanks for all the suggestions!!! You all are GREAT!!!
Well if it is the bristles leaving the marks then try raising them up a click, if it is the wheels, because of a loss of rubber covering, get some new ones, maybe they are covered under warranty. call kirby and find out

Do the rear drive wheels have the rubber on them or are they worn off and it is just plastic now.

We had the same problem - we were told - as we returned the Sentria that this is a problem with then new Sentria wheels - due to the rubber.

otherwise the kirby vacuum can have the bristles raised a click and maybe that will correct the problem, there isn't much you can do except adjust the height of a kirby, it spins at one speed
