Maytag mvwv765fwi washer flashes F5 and turns off

It turns on an I can select an wash option and hit start. It starts the sensing process at which time the lid usually locks. Instead it flashes a quick F5 and turns off completely. I have tried unplugging it and also cleaning the locking area in hopes that it will reset but that didn't help.

This is the door latch that you need for your model.
I would get it and try installing it.
If you have trouble, call a repair guy to do it
but it's always cheaper to buy it here first.

SOURCE: want to disengage lid lock on maytag centennial

I had the same problem. The lid lock assembly is broken. If you are under warranty get it replaced. If not remove the top of the washer and take out the switch assembly. The 4 wires going in are Yellow, Red, White, and Blue. If you short the white and blue together, the washer thinks the lid is closed. If you short the red white and blue together the washer thinks the lid is closed and locked. The yellow is only there to activate the electromagnetic switch.
Disconnecting the switch assembly will not work.
The electromagnet locks the lid and it also unlocks the lid. It is not a matter of cutting the power to the magnet.
Installing 2 switches that connect the red white and blue is the best option if you want to remove the lock.
The first switch should connect the white and blue. (LID CLOSED)
The second should connect the red to the white/blue connection. (LID LOCKED)
After that the lid should work.
Please post a follow-up if this works for you.
GOOD LUCK

I need the repair manual for the Maytag commercial technology top load washing machine

No model number, so generic answers

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/913203/Maytag-Washer.html

The F5 E2 alert indicates the washer can't engage the lid lock because there may be an obstruction in the lid lock area. Please check the lid lock area and remove any objects in that area.

Hi my maytag washing machine start button just flashes and wont start the load what is wrong with it please

Many machines have a Timer Mode that allows you to set machine to wash overnight or early in the morning to take advantage of cheaper electricity. Normally when set, the start button flashes.

Try pulling the mains plug on it for an hour to reset it. You can also try holding the Start button pressed for about 6 seconds.

I press the start button and it says error.

Had the same symptoms. Tried unplugging power for 5 minutes, no change. Did the Select+options button for 5 seconds, the column of lights flashed once, and then I hit the Start, the door locked, clean clothes followed shortly thereafter :)
