How do you get the door to close. I just opened it as usual and can't get it back up

One thermostat (sometimes at the back of the stove) is open/blown or the door locking assembly has failed. To open the door you may remove the back of the stove; take the door locking assembly apart to release the long wire that hooks the door close.
On some models you can see the locking the latching mechanism through a **** in the top front and can play with the mechanisms there to release the door.
Then you can begin to figure why the door latched in the first place.

try shutting off power and then turn on..If this doesnt work turn on self clean again ,start it then after a few seconds cancel. This should tell the lock to release.

in the rear of the stove there might be a wax motor that has melted not allowing the stove to be unlocked. or a stuck switch.
all too common with self clean ranges.
unplug stove, remove rear panel and begon looking for any type of heat damage, or any switches that may have been stuck closed.
i see this at least once per week

F90 Maximum oven door unlock time exceeded.
F91 Maximum oven door unlock attempts exceeded.
F92 Maximum oven door open time exceeded.
F93 Maximum oven door lock time exceeded.
F94 Maximum oven door lock attempts exceeded.


1. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Check the wiring between EOC & Lock Motor Micro Switch.

2. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Replace the Motor Door Latch assembly if necessary.

3. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Check for binding of the Latch Cam, Lock Motor Rod & Lock Motor Cam.

4. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Check to see if Lock Motor Coil is open. If open, replace Lock Motor Assembly.

5. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Lock Motor continuously runs - if Micro Switch is open, replace Lock Motor Assembly.

6. (F92, 93 & 94) Check oven door Light Switch - if open, replace Switch.

7. If all situations above do not solve problem, replace EOC.


F90 is a door lock code, Try this...
unplug the range.
wait 1 minute.
turn the range back on,
then while holding in on the oven door.
start another self clean.
wait 2 minutes.
then cancel the self clean.

do not release the door until the door lock light goes out.

Sounds like you bent the door where the lock is. You might have to replace the door.

On many freestanding stoves the lock motor is located in the right rear (looking from the front) with a long rod connected to the lock. Pull or push the rod to move the lock to the open position..

I lost my manual for the appliance, i was wondering if anyone knows how to get one? Thanks in advance

I let the door stay open, hold the switch closed with my finger, activated self clean. Let it run for a minute then hit cancel, the stove heating element shut off and the locked door blinked for 5 seconds then finally stopped. Back to normal.
