On my electric stove, one of the burner caught on fire, and now the indicator light stays on even after the stove is turned off

If the light remains on, that would indicate the circuit was damaged. The light goes on when the circuit is complete. This usually happens when the burner gets hot. If it caught fire, then the stove is registering it as hot all the time. Elisa Jed ' http://www.atlasappliances.com/en/pg-kitchen-appliances

My ge stove is dead. control panel is out,

The circuit breaker probably tripped. Usually it will be a 2 pole 40 or 50 amp breaker. Turn it all the way OFF, then back ON. Sometimes it's not easy to visually tell if a breaker has tripped, so do it anyway. If that doen't solve the problem post back please.
