I have an optima hd180 that will not power up. The projector was indicating a bad bulb, so I replaced that with a new one. Now it still will not power up and the fan does not come on either.

I installed my first replacement bulb about a month ago after the OE bulb failed. It has been working fine until a few days ago. I went to power it up and the green power light flashed and the fan powered up normally. The bulb will start to power up within a few seconds normally, but it did not this time. The green light flashed as the fan ran for maybe 30 to 60 seconds, then shut off of a few more. The fan started up again and ran for another 30 to 60 seconds IIRC. It shut off and the power light flashed amber and the bulb indicator was a steady red. I tried this a couple of times with the same result. Indicating a bulb failure, right? But... the last time I tried it, the green light flashed continuously and the fan did not come on. Strange. I thought it odd that the bulb had only run for a short time, but figured oh well I got a bad one. Ordered a new bulb that arrived yesterday. I installed it and powered up the projector. Same result - green light flashes, bulb does not power up, and the fan does not come on. It stays in this mode and the lights do not go to amber and red like before.

Problem w/ OEM bulb, it causes a lot of issues from my experience. Your ballast might have gone bad, hopefully it's just that. Check the voltage output of the ballast, make sure you're getting the proper amount.

SOURCE: No light come on from the projector

Thats the projector telling you that you need to replace the lamp. Lamps usually lasts for about 2000 hours so if you had it for a while you may need to replace it.

www.froogle.com and enter your make and model or go to www.projectorcentral.com and find a few retailers in the US that sells lamps.

good luck

SOURCE: Projector will not project light (Mitsubishi LVP-X80U) LCD Proje.

Hello toma_leonard,

First check your lamp to make sure it is seated properly in the socket.
Then check all of your interlocks (see your manual for locations), these are usually located on any hatches or doors that allow access to the lamp and or fan area. Once you check your interlocks make sure the filter and fan area is clear of dust, (some projectors have air flow sensors), and the recheck the interlocks. Once this is done , If the interlocks are not broken, or the lamp fuse blown, the projector should be working. If not it is the lamp that needs changing.

I know this may be expensive, however these lamps do go bad, as much as we wish they would not.

If you still feel it is not the lamp, have a technician check the voltage levels to the lamp and the levels of the control board circuitry.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

if you hear a high-pitched whir, you have a ballast problem. if you don't hear it, you have a colorwheel problem.

SOURCE: indicator lights on, no function, no fan, no lamp

Press the MENU button to display the "MAIN MENU", and then select "OPTION".
Press the ENTER button to display the "OPTION" menu, and then select "LAMP RUNTIME".
Press and hold the ENTER button for approximately 3 seconds.
The "LAMP RUNTIME" will change to "TIME RESET [POWER OFF]".
Turn off the power and disconnect the power cord.
This will reset the cumulative usage time for the lamp unit to "0".

My projector's power light is red, but when I click power it won't turn to green (on)

The likeliest problem here may be a burned out or failed projector bulb. Most projectors will fail to power up at all when if the bulb is out. The HD20 user manual does not specify a red light as an error indication option however, generally amber.
User manual .pdf is located here (takes a bit to download for it's size), Projector Status Indicator instructions are located on page 40.
Here on the product page itself, an email to Optima support may be warranted given the red instead of amber error light.
If you had any messages recently indicating your bulb life was nearing it's end, again, this would be my first guess. Certain models of projectors do have a tendency of blowing through bulbs even before any warning message comes up. I had an experience with a certain brand/model that for the last 3 replacements has given only about 1/4 of the stated bulb life, so unfortunately it does happen.

Infocus Lp240 Projector Will not power on NEW BULB. Red light Blinks on and off.

The owner's manual should have a troubleshooting chart that will indicate what the blinking lights mean. If the new bulb did not clear it, the problem may be the ballast (part that starts the bulb). Also, when you replaced the lamp, you should also reset the lamp timer. Some units will continue to indicate a lamp needing replacement until the counter is reset. The procedure for that should also be in the manual.

Keep us posted.

Infocus IN72 powers up but no image, replaced the bulb but still no image...

Hi there

This is most probably a Ballast ( lamp's powersupply ) problem.

Make 100% sure that this unit is out of warranty because InFocus Projectors come out standard with a 2 year warranty.
