Even though my black cartridge is full, my black and white documents are so light they are unreadable. My color cartridges are close to being empty. Can this be the cause?

Similar to the first answer above, unless you select the default printing choice to use black ink only you will be using all colors, even to print black text in a document.

Wether your printer uses one color cartridge or multiple color cartridges, all the colors are mixed together to get black. I bet your blue cartridge is the lowest?

You need to make certain you select black only, or select to have color printing off.

Also, to save a bit more ink you can select, as a default, for all documents printed to be in draft mode (only good if most of your printing is for yourself-not for "real" printing of letters, correspondence, reports, etc.).

Even when you make the default black only and draft, when you change settings to print a picture or a "real" document you MUST remember to change it back.
I forgot not too long ago, and now all my colors are low!

Run "print head cleaning" in the printer maintenance menu. Run head cleaning about 5 times. No need to run deep cycle just normal head cleaning. if solved please visit my website http://besthealthdeal.five-starsports.com/home.html

Why is black printing dull/light?

Probably using COLOR to print Black images. Check your printer settings Set to BLACK only.

Also could be from generic copy paper.

Caution lite flashing over cartridge of hp deskjet 940c. error message says that there is not color ink cartridge in printer. There is and the interface says the tank is full. It won't print...

Even though the interface says the cartridge is full, if the printer detects it being empty, odds are you will have to replace the color cartridge, even though you are only printing black.
You can try taking the cartridge out and cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser and reseat the color cartridge. If no change, replace the cartridge.

My printer has an almost full black cartridge but will not print.

Check the ink lines, the printer head might be clogged, If thats not fixing anything then check your printer settings on the computer and remove the color option. Changing it to black and white can somtimes just be from color, not just black.

HP 932 RED LIGHT STAYS ON

The light you describe is the ink light.
When that light is blinking, try this.

Turn on the printer. Open the front cover and look at the carrier for the ink cartridges. There is a white arrow right above the latch for the color cartridge.
Once the carrier stops moving, the white arrow should be pointing to a symbol which represents the problem (the reason the light is blinking.) Examples are low ink black, low ink color, sick black ( replace ) , sick color ( replace ).

IF you have just replaced your black cartridge, you might need to replace your color cartridge too.
This printer will not work without both ink cartridges installed and full.
You cant print with a full black and an empty color cartridge unfortunately, even if you only want to print black.

Hope this helps!

Black light & print cartridge light is blinking. I changed the black cartridge but did not change the color cartridge cause I never use color. Both are in the printer. Black Light is blinking and...

Unfortuantely , to solve the issue , sadly, yes you will have to replace the empty cartridge to continue to use the printer in a normal fashion. Its a sneaky and dirty trick many printer manufactuers do to make more money off of the customer through the purchase of printer ink.

Wont print

Hi, yes I have had problems with these HP printers B4 and it was in fact the INK... strange as it may seem, Ya gota have them "Full" as it were. I have "Fooled" it sometimes by removing the cartridge(s) and powering on & of re-inserting them. But eventually always ended up paying thru the nose for the cartridges. I saved a bit by using refilled ones, but I now use printers that have cheap single color ones, eg: Canon i550
