Should motor on AQ113F497I be earthed

My 6 month old washing machine has just made some scary bangs, before turning itself off and then on again. It then did the same thing again. It sounded like it was shorting out badly inside so turned it off immediately, but there was a strong smell of burning. Worries me that if I hadn't been in the room then it could have beena fire. As its so new I know I can get it sorted under warrenty but feel that there may have been a major risk to my family. CHECK YOUR DRUM BELT FOR CRACKS AND SIGNS OF WEAR BY TURNING TRHE BELT INSIDE OUT AND SLOWLY TURNING IT TO FIND CRACKS. THE BELT TENSION ADJUSTMENT PULLY MAYBE CRACKED OR WORN AS WELL.

SOURCE: Washer has burning smell and does not spin.

It sounds like your belt has burnt off. take the front off the washer or tip the washer back to check it. easy fix.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You are going to need to clean the washer. You need to get inside the washer and clean the tub, hoses, and water pump. Articles of clothing and other items get stuck in these places. Once you clean it, run a load of bleach water through the system. This should take care of your smell.

Check the sensors, water level especially as it gets clogged with congealed powder etc.

Hello. It sounds like the motor has gone bad--possibly a shorted part of the motor, or a jammed drain pump. It also could be the transmission binding at the point of going into spin mode. You didn't provide a brand/model number so my help is limited. The clue here is the clicking before the power trip.

I have an Electrolux Aqualux EW1200 i washing machine which is around 6 years old. The problem is that the drum no longer turns during the wash cycle. Instead it makes a slight grinding and banging...

6 years old - probably the wash tub bearings gone. Does the wash tub lift up and down from the front? sure sign bearings have gone. Would you drive a car at 70mph if the wheels were loose and floppy?
Not really a viable repair due to cost, and throwing good money after bad sort of situation, especially if your machine has a sealed wash tub which doesn't come apart.(welded Tub).
Cost of parts in this case would equal cost of new machine. Also, suspension, motor and heater will all be worn too. That's about the life span of machines these days I'm afraid!

Whirlpool 6th sense washing machine- door light keeps flashing & it will not start the cycle,have to turn off the machine for the door to open .the machine is 4yrs old nxt month.

Hi could be 2 things
Motor brushes worn but at 4 years old unlikely
Or as mine turned out to be dry joints on the controller board just fixed it tonight I also replaaced the brushes on the motor as my machine is 6 years old and were worn

My HE3 washer, about 4 yrs old is locked , showed error code 6

Here are the steps to unlocking the door manually if clothes are still in the machine.
1.Unplug machine
2.remove bottom panel
3.Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the botttom of the door latch assembly
4.Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a tear dropped shaped tab
5. Gently pull down on the tab about a 1/4 inch or until a click is heard.
6. You may now open the door.

This code means the control is unable to properly detect motor speed. Due to this the machine shut itself down.

when a machine gets old it is always normal for the vibration and banging to occur, then, after the vibration it settled down smoothly.this is due to worn fan belt .bearings worn out and the preasure on the spindle.so dont get alarm .but you will soon have to replace the washer as the banging and the vibration will get worse eventually.or change the fan belt.and replace bearings.which can be done by a qualified personel.good luck.

the intermitten defec is the most eassy or dificult defec becouse could be any were.. from the ac plug to the motor itself but try these... gentels nock to the timer... coulbe a carbon dirty contact in side the timer.. bend the ac cord and swing it around to look for broken cable... if some of these give you positeve result change it.... good luck
