Installed a remanufactured tone and immediately it is leaving one (or 2 at times) dark lines across the copies.

Where the lines there before you put the cartridge in? If not, I would have to say, bring the cartridge back with a sample copy and return it for another one... Good Luck .... It's half the price, but there are some that do not work

The printer is printing dark vertical line on the

90% or more of the time on this printer dark lines are coming from your toner/drum cartridge. You can verify this by changing cartridges if you have a spare. If you don't then remove the cartridge and look at the colored cylinder in the cartridge and see if the same "lines" are on the cylinder that are on your prints. This will tell you for sure that the cartridge is bad.

Printed pages come out with dark lines under each line of print

Find your printer's "Maintenance" menu, in its "Toolbox" or from the Start Menu.

Preform a cartridge or head cleaning, that should solve your issue. If not, try replacing the cartridges with new ones.

Hope I helped,

LIGHT BUT DISTINCTIVE DARK STREEK TOP TO BOTTOM ON ALL COPIES

you do not need to replace the copier

the cartridge has a charger wire that you can clean with a pencil erasure

Also remove glass and clean the underside of the glass and the mirror

finally

open the fuser area( exit area where you clear jams and remove the wiper / cleaner of the fusr rollers
ad reinsert

look for any lines on the rollers

when you install the toner cartridge lift the shutter that exoses the imaging drum to see if it looks ok
if it has lines on it you may have to replace it ther is a wiper (silicone that will get toner nder it and can cause the lnes

All you can do is reinsert ant try it if it persists relace the cartridge

Lines on page

As far as copying goes, it could be lines on the scanner glass. You might want to check that out.

Do you have any way of checking the condition of the drum on the cartridge to see if there are any lines on it. Find the drum cover protector by removing the drum cartridge straight up, lift the drum protective cover and see if there are any lines on the green surface. Try to keep it out of direct light as much as possible. Make sure you lift it straight up so no toner or developer spills out.

I've seen a few cases where the cleaning blade on the drum is defective. Usually you can return them and get a replacement at no charge.

Cartridge

sounds like it is a bad toner cartridge. If you still have your old toner cart., try that to see if you still get black lines, let me know what happens.

Dark Copies

Jim, A couple of things: 1. OEM (Canon original) toner cartridge or remanufactured/compatible? The first place to start is always with the toner cartridge when image problems occur. Pull the cartridge out and draw back the drum cover. Check to see if the drum is a nice "clean" blue color or if the lines and spots are on it like you described. (These two areas should be handled by someone with experience in copy service) 2. The next thing would involved cleaning under the copy glass. Build up from dust, etc causes a "fogginess" that makes the machine try to adjust the intensity of the exposure lamp to conpensate for this. 3. Also could be a bad upper fuser roller if you started having any paper jams when to paper exits.
