Screen majority of time has terrible resolution and shadows and sometimes has mediocre resolution. Recent move may have loosened connection. I am accustomed to getting into the tower style CPU box and check card seating. Don't know where to start on this one.
In the desktop screen, click the right mouse button. click on Screen resolution in the drop down menu.
See what the resolution is set at. There should be a recommended setting. Try that. Try other resolutions and see if the condition changes.
In the Start menu, click the right mouse button on Computer.
Click on Manage in the drop down menu.
In the left hand menu choose Device Manager.
Click on Display adapters
The adapter in your laptop should be displayed.
Click the right mouse button on the specified adapter.
Choose Uninstall.
When the uninstall is complete, either reboot or Scan for Hardware changes.
This will reinstall the adapter drivers.
You may have to update the drivers.
Make a note of the adapter and model. Search Google for that make and model or go to Sony's site and find the drivers for your laptop. Reinstall or update the drivers.
If all this fails you may need a hardware technician to work on your system.

the problem should be from the Hard disk of your system. While it fell, the hard disk might have disconnected or has shifted and not properly fitted to its rightful position when the system dropped.
Turn of your system, remove the battery, then pull out the hard disk and fix it back into the system properly. Make sure its firm, couple it back, fix in the battery and try again.
Once your OS refuses to boot, the hard disk is the first thing to be checked. I believe the problem is from the hard disk part of your system.
