I have drilled a small hole in the exposed end of the battery, taking care to not let debris from te drill bit fall into the camera. Then turn a screw into the hole and pull the battery out.

Circuit/System Description
The assist step control module (ASC) controls the running board actuators to extend or retract the running boards. Each actuator consists of an electric motor and a potentiometer. The module supplies a low reference and 10-volt reference source voltage to the potentiometer. The ASC control module monitors the voltage drop across the potentiometer on the position signal circuit. When the actuator shaft rotates, the voltage on the position signal circuit changes. The ASC control module supplies the actuator motor with a 12-volt control circuit and a ground control circuit. The ASC module controls the direction of the actuator by changing the polarity of the control circuits.
You should take this to a ASE certified repair shop that has the diagnostic tools to check for stored DTC'S in the running board control module . A code reader for check engine light codes will not work for this system !
This system can set numerous DTC'S

Diagnostic Procedure Instructions provides an overview of each diagnostic category.
Oh dear... shorting out the main battery terminals can cause spectacular electrical problems. If the main 15 amp fuse keeps blowing , it would suggest a dead short. Make sure that any of the smaller cables that are usually fixed to the battery are on the correct posts. The negative battery lead will go directly to the body of the car and or the engine case. The large thick positive, will go to the starter. The smaller wiring usually goes to the fuse box and then to the ignition. You may need an Auto Electrician to suss this one out.
Check all the battery connections, positive and negative, both ends. take them off and clean, coat with die-electric grease. grey, brown, or black is enough to let the car start but will not let it charge back up and the battery will keep loosing charge. Do the wipers work? just had a wiper motor that was not working but it was stuck in an on position and was using up the battery. It felt warm. look for lights stuck on, glove box, under hood, trunk. charge up the battery and have it checked for a short.
on most devices the negative of the battery goes against the springs and the positive goes against a metal plate some times the negative goes agains a sping loaded plate and the positive goes on the fixed plate I hope this helps
Try a local repair shop with a data base
ALLDATA etc
Have them show you the wiring diagram
The circuit the fuse is on won't get you to
the module, not timing out
You should be around 40ma or less when they
go to sleep
either you have a door switch thats stuck or bad, suggest until you figuer out which, remove the bulb from interior lighr that stays on,a push button may have gone bad or simply stuck in on position. removing the bulb will stop the battery drain, but will have no inside light from that bulb when you remove it. the plastic cover on that light should just pop out with a straight screw driver when pryed open from one side or other of plastic cover. look for an indentation or slot on side of plastic cover to remove that cover. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com
If no power on the camera:
Here are the steps:
1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher).
2. Clean the battery contacts.
a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth.
b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera
3. Turn on your camera without the memory card.
If there is power on the camera, bnut the lens is stuck:
This is a lens error. KODAK suggests a repair for this fault.
However due to spare part shortage this model is no longer repaired. Instead KODAK offers a trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.
