yes there is a control board at the back of the machine if it got wet it will be damaged and eventually the machine not might work at all its easier to call a repair man instead of all the trouble doing it your self and it is int costly at all
chance are the motor control board has gone bad,to get to it you need to remove the door and then take a putty knife and go around the top and side and pop the clips by just pushing in and pulling back to you! after the top is lifted the are a couple screws holding the front on remove them and take front off, The motor control board is on the front right hand side. and you can see the motor in the rear left.you will need to order the replacement motor kit which has a motor and a board with instructions on how to replace these parts. any online parts store can help I use searspartsdirect.com

Click on the following direct Link. It has the Timing Belt Diagrams that you will need. Plus additional Instruction and Directional Diagrams you should use.
As far as the "kit": most Timing Belt/Chains will be sold in kits, including the belt/chain and sprockets.

Kill the power to the unit. Pull the control panel down to access the control board located on the right hand side of the panel. There will be 2 wires coming in to a white plastic clip on fuse located on the side of the control board. It will have a plastic pliable shield over it. Pull the 2 wires and check for continuity across this fuse. If no continuity then go to parts house with model number of unit and ask for thermal fuse for your unit. Replace this fuse following the instructions included in the kit and use all the parts included in the kit.

If you are sure the belt is slipping, you need to replace the belt. Mine was making a growling noise that sounded like it might have been a slipping belt but it turned out to be a motor drive problem. I fixed mine with a motor/control board kit (ebay) for $155.00. However, there was a note with the kit that indicated that the symptom on that particular model might have been simply a bad cable connection at the motor end of the cable. The wire lugs are crimped-on in the motor connector and could work loose - the motor jumps around quite a lot during spin start-up...
I've only seen one of these belts break in my 7 years of fixing Neptune's. I have replaced dozens of motor/ motor control board kits. Maytag upgraded the washer motors about 5 years ago, if yours is older it's probably got the older style motor. If that's the case you need to verify that the motor control board is getting power from the main control board, if it is, then you need to replace both the motor and motor control board (it comes as a kit). If it isn't you need to put 120 volts to the motor control board and see if the motor spins at 50 rpm (normal agitate speed), if it does, you just need the main control board, if it still doesn't run you need the main board and the motor/ motor control kit. If it has the newer motor, you would also need to test and replace the motor and/ or the motor control board separetly.
LR is a locked rotor. Usually when I've gotten this error code in the past, you have to replace the motor control board and motor as a kit. However, if this kit has to be installed due to a bad motor, the motor carries a 5 year warranty. If it has to be replaced due to a bad board, the board only has a 2 year warranty. The snag is they have to be replaced together as neither of the old parts is made anymore. I can tell you already the motor/ board kit costs about $300 just for the part. However, since these are expensive machines, I would recommend having a maytag authorized tech come out if the unit is less than 5 years old. It would be worth the service call (and armed with this knowledge) to see if the part can't be replaced under warranty. (wouldn't be a bad idea to have your owners manual ready to show that the motor has a 5 year warranty on it as well) Most warranty companies don't know from model to model which parts are under warranty without the owners manual.
